New Meeting: Fourth of July Parade and Hike in Nisene Marks

From: Lauren
Sent on: Saturday, June 7, 2008 10:22 AM
Announcing a new meeting for 35ish-65ish Bay Area Hikers, Daytrippers and Playful People!

What: Fourth of July Parade and Hike in Nisene Marks

When: Friday, July 4, 10:00 AM

Meeting fee: USD1.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Anyone who enjoys a parade, camraderie and a walk in the woods afterwards

Why: The parade is fun, and Nisene Marks is really pretty and relaxing after the hectic parade

Meeting Description: We'll hang out on the driveway into the Safeway for possibly an hour or so, until we get tired of it, and then try and make our way through the crowd towards Nisene Marks. Not the State Park Dr. Entrance, the entrance closest to the Kentucky Fried Chicken. Bring lunch and water so you can eat when you feel like it. It's probable I will be wearing some sort of Red, White and Blue garb, and Jack will definitely have his red harness on. There are a lot of doggie groups that march in the parade. In your RSVP state whether you'd be interested in marching in the parade as the Hiking Meetup Group, if there is enough interest I'll sign us up. :)

The parade lasts from 10am - noon and there is parking at the Church at the State Park Dr. exit at which point you can walk over to the Safeway. Allow 15 minutes to walk over there.

Small dogs can come.

Wear sunscreen and hiking shoes or boots. If you want to bring something you can still on, you can, but be prepared to hike carrying it, during the Nisene Marks portion of the event. We will be hiking on the road, since dogs are not allowed on the trails. There are pit toilets in Nisene Marks, but no drinking water so bring enough water to last into the afternoon. We'll turn back when people get tired. Nisene Marks is a tick hot bed so wear tight clothing, hats, and be prepare to check yourself for ticks promptly.

Any questions, email me by clicking on "contact me" on the webpage. :)
