About us
(Modified from our founder's original statement.)
This group is meant for people who want to explore the Bay Area Ridge Trail (RT) and other Bay Area trails or who just enjoy hiking and exploring. Since our hikes are normally in the 10-12 miles range with 1000-2000 feet elevation gain, some hiking experience or at least a reasonable fitness level is expected of you to join us.
Additionally (and the reason for the “More” in the group name), we plan to explore: 1. The State Parks of California and 2. The National Parks of the USA.
DISCLAIMER: You take all risks when joining an event, including of being of reasonable fitness or experience to embark on difficult hikes. We are here just to come up with hiking events and lead the way.

The parking lot does tend to fill early (maybe not as bad on a Friday), but there are also spots along Skyline Blvd and along the adjacent Pine Hills Drive (see map). Please allow time to find parking and walk over to our meeting spot.
There is a bathroom at the north end of the parking lot.AllTrails route: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/map-august-14-2024-32b8923?u=i&sh=5gvw8g
Come prepared, as usual – with good boots, poles if you use them (there is a fair amount of elevation for the mileage), and the usual 2L minimum of water, sunscreen, hat, layers, lunch and snacks, as needed, etc. Current forecast temperatures are in the mid-60’s & cloudy. Check the weather again before heading out. We’ll stop for a short lunch break roughly at the midpoint.

We’ll wait at trail junctions to be sure everyone is on the right track, but hikers are expected to be able to keep up. Hikers who may be out front of the group a bit are expected to wait at junctions so as not to get separated and end up ultimately slowing the group. Our average pace will be about 2 -1/4 to 2 - ½ miles/hr, or roughly 24 minutes per mile, or more, while moving. With our break, we should finish around 3:00, give or take. Time is approximate.
