What we’re about
(Modified from our founder's original statement.)
This group is meant for people who want to explore the Bay Area Ridge Trail (RT) and other Bay Area trails or who just enjoy hiking and exploring. Since our hikes are normally in the 10-12 miles range with 1000-2000 feet elevation gain, some hiking experience or at least a reasonable fitness level is expected of you to join us.
Additionally (and the reason for the “More” in the group name), we plan to explore: 1. The State Parks of California and 2. The National Parks of the USA.
DISCLAIMER: You take all risks when joining an event, including of being of reasonable fitness or experience to embark on difficult hikes. We are here just to come up with hiking events and lead the way.

San Pedro/Montara - 3 Peaks - 12.5 mi/3,130'
(Reposting from August 2023)Come join us for a cooler, coastal hike, since it'll pretty warm inland.
This is a more difficult hike, well-suited for experienced hikers.
Note: Dogs are not allowed on the trail.Meeting time: 9:45 AM, or earlier as needed to secure parking.
Hike Start Time: 10:00 AM Sharp – please plan for a timely arrival.
Meeting Location: San Pedro Valley Park, 600 Oddstad Blvd, Pacifica, CA 94044. There is a $6.00 vehicle entry fee. If parking becomes tight, there should be street parking along Rosita Road and other nearby streets, if it comes to that - plan accordingly.
We’ll gather up in front of the visitor center just beyond the entry kiosk. There are restrooms nearby.
The hike consists of three “legs,” which will enable us to reach the three peaks (Peak Mtn – 1,788’; North Peak – 1870’; and San Pedro Mtn. – 1,066’), and some extra distance via two loops to vary the scenery a bit. There are two main uphill and downhill sections, a couple of steep but short sections. The route will have a mix of shade and exposed trail, a couple of stretches of access road. After any fog burns off, there will be ocean views as we move westward.

Weather – Park Pacifica Station:
https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/ca/pacifica/KCAPACIF302This is the nearest weather station, which currently forecasts a temperature range of 62-68 degrees for the duration of our hike. Expect fog in the morning, and temperatures that feel warmer up on the exposed ridge portions of the hike.
Come prepared, as usual – with good boots, poles if you need them, and the usual 2L minimum of water, sunscreen, hat, layers, lunch and snacks, as needed, etc. Check the weather again before heading out – considering carrying more water if the forecast temperatures increase. We’ll stop for a lunch break roughly at the midpoint.
This a more challenging hike – while we’ll wait at trail junctions to be sure everyone in on the right track, hikers are expected to be able to keep up. Likewise, hikers who may be out front of the group a bit are expected to wait at a junction so as not to get separated and end up ultimately slowing the group. Our average pace will be about 2.5 miles/hr, maybe a little less, or roughly 25 minutes per mile, while moving. With our breaks, we should finish around 3:00 or 3:30, give or take.
