Bane Ridge is in Chino Hills State Park. Instead of hiking along Bane Canyon where all the crowds are, let’s climb up to the top of the hills and walk along the crestline. We’ll enjoy the picturesque landscape of Chino Hills, views of the high mountains, and hopefully, lots of colorful flowers. Sadly, dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails within the park.
Although the hike takes place within Chino Hills State Park, we will park just outside the park's North Entrance on the street, and it's free. From the street, we will walk up the paved road to the trailhead. I’d call this a moderate hike, probably around 8 miles. There is no shade on the trials, so bring lots of water and sun protection. There can be overgrown sections of trail, so wear insect repellant and long pants.
Afterwards, anyone who is interested can join me for lunch somewhere nearby.
