What we’re about

We’re a community of music lovers with a deep appreciation for rap and hip-hop, here to hang out and talk about what we’ve been listening to, cause there ain't nothing better than that album that makes your head bob every time it comes on. We’re also here to dig deeper into the stories behind the lyrics and the people who create the music we love.

We meet twice a month, usually the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Each Meetup, a different musical lens will be chosen to highlight, like Bay Area Classics, or anything by Jay-Z. You have the option to bring an album of your choice related to that Meetup's particular lens and present a song from that album. After everyone has presented, the floor will open to chat about the Rap/Hip Hop you've been enjoying lately (regardless of genre).

“I don’t have good taste in music.” We want to hear what YOU like. Music is subjective, and whatever you bring, everyone is here to learn and enjoy themselves.

Anyone from anywhere is welcome. While criticism/opinions specifically on music is encouraged (like how Vultures is hot garbage), this is a hate-free zone. Any attempt to purposefully degrade or harass someone in the community for who they are/how they present themselves will be banned. And subsequently thrown to the wolves. Everybody’s tastes in music are different, and the point is to share what you love with others.

As this community grows, we hope to open up space for special presentations on personal or regional connections to rhythm-based music. Whether you grew up singing soul, DJing, or learning from your family’s crate of records, your stories about who inspired you help bring this music to life.
