- Sunset Cruise Around St. Augustine107 Yacht Club Dr, St. Augustine, FL
June 8 is World Ocean Day, so let's go celebrate it off the coast of St. Augustine!
Florida Water Tours offers a 1.5-hour, adults-only sunset cruise around St. Augustine. We'll be on the 45' Osprey. It's fully enclosed and shaded unless you go out onto the bow. That said, you can always roll the windows up if you want fresh air or a better look at the sites, dolphins and other wildlife outside the boat.
Tickets are $39 per person. Buy your ticket here for the June 8, 7:30 p.m. Sunset Cruise on the Osprey.
In addition to watching the sunset and seeing sites like the Fort, the Big Cross, Bridge of Lions, and the Lighthouse from the water, there's a full bar on board. You can buy mimosas, sangria, beer, wine, and canned cocktails. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are available as well.
Note: There are 37 seats available. I don't know how popular this tour is going to be, so I'd recommend buying your ticket as soon as you can. If something comes up and you need to cancel, you can do so up to 48 hours before the tour without penalty.
WHERE IT'S AT: "The dock is adjacent to the restaurant King Fish Grill. You can access the dock to the left of the restaurant entrance. Then, walk down to the floating dock and head right, where you will see our vessel on the corner slip."
WHEN TO ARRIVE: Make sure to leave enough time to park and walk down the marina to the boat. We need to all be there at least 15 minutes before the tour takes off!
REGARDING PARKING: "As you pull into Camachee Cove, take the very first right immediately after the entrance and park facing the road, A1A, across from the retail shop. To avoid a towing expense, please do not park in the store/business parking spaces. You will then walk through the parking lot towards King Fish Grill. Just before the restaurant entrance, you can access the dock to your left, then head right down the dock, and you will see our boat!"
If anyone wants to carpool, drop a note in the comments to see if anyone is interested.
Here's some important info to read through before purchasing your ticket and taking the tour.
- Top Golf for Father's DayTopgolf, Jacksonville, FL
It doesn't matter what kind of dad you are. If you have kids, step kids, foster kids, kids on the way, pet-kids, tons of plants, or you have no kids and simply want to play some golf and grab some drinks and eats, then please come on out to Top Golf!
You ladies are free to join us as well, if you'd like. While we're gathering to celebrate the papas, everyone is welcome!
Note: I will not be hosting this event because I don't golf. I just figured it would be a fun dad-like activity to do for the holiday.
Sooo... If any of you would like to step up and work as my unofficial coordinator and round everyone up at the meetup time, that would be spectacular! Otherwise, you guys can just use this app to find out what everyone else looks like and then find each other outside the entrance.
Have fun!
- Early Morning at Washington Oaks Gardens State ParkWashington Oaks Gardens State Park, Palm Coast, FL
June is the Great Outdoors Month. But since June is hot as all hell, I figured we should go somewhere on the coast with lots of built-in shade. So Washington Oaks Gardens State Park it is!
If anyone else is interested in playing hooky this Friday, I say we all make our way to Palm Coast and enjoy the park and gardens for an hour or two in the morning. Then, if you're feeling up for it, we can hit up Ragga Surf Cafe on the way home!
- 4th of July FireworksNeeds location
I don't have any details on where the city of Jax is setting up fireworks yet. Once the times and locations are set, I'll let you guys know.
Downtown and the beach are gonna be nuts, so I'll probably pick one of the other spots so we don't have to worry about parking mayhem and getting out of the area when it's over. (Last year they had them at some parks as well as the mall, so we'll have plenty of options.)
If they have them at the Avenues Mall again, I'll probably have us meet at Main Event first for some drinks/food/games/whatever and then we can go watch the fireworks show. Just FYI!
Note: Fireworks are not dog-friendly events. As much as we love our furry friends, please do not bring them to this event.
- Sunset Silent Disco at The PierJacksonville Beach Pier, Jacksonville Beach, FL
Let's all get together and head to the silent disco on the Jax Beach Pier. It starts at 6 and runs until 10, but I figure we can get there around 7 and enjoy some dancing and music during the sunset.
The event is free to attend. They only ask that you sign a liability waiver before participating. You can sign it online or when you show up at the pier.
- Jet Ski Excursion Around St. Augustine250 Vilano Rd, St. Augustine, FL
July is National Anti-Boredom Month. To celebrate, let's take some jet skis out around St. Augustine!
The cost is $130 per jet ski for a one-hour excursion. So feel free to bring along a partner or pair up with someone else going if you want to share the jet ski and split the costs. You can also get a 10% discount if you're military, law enforcement, or a first responder.
I need to call the venue and get details on available start times and capacity. For now, feel free to RSVP and I'll let you know when I have all the details so you can make your reservation.
For now, feel free to check out Beaches Marina here. Here's what the website says about the jet ski tour:
"Explore our historic Inter-coastal waterways. This is a must do experience of high octane thrill-seeking. Feel the wind in your hair as you jet through the Tolomato, Sebastian and Matanzas rivers. See dolphins, manatees, sea turtles and tropical birds as you enjoy our breathtaking scenic views. "
If anyone's interested, we can head next door and grab food at Beaches at Vilano when we're done.
Note: If you were born after 1988, you'll need a Florida boating license in order to take one of these bad boys out. Learn more info about the policy here.
- An Afternoon at Beach Bowl in Jacksonville BeachBeach Bowl, Jacksonville Beach, FL
Beach Bowl is finally opening!
According to their Instagram, the reopening date will be some time in June. So let's give them a month or so to work out the kinks. Then we'll make an afternoon of it in August!
I'm not completely sure what else will be offered besides bowling, but I suspect they'll have a bar, snacks, some video games, and maybe pool tables. As we get closer to this date, I'll update the post and let you all know.
- Let's Go to the Movies and Watch Alien: RomulusNeeds location
The newest Alien movie is set to come out this August. I figured it would be fun to get a big group together for this one and it would keep us out of the blazing August heat.
You can watch the teaser trailer here.
The director of this one is Fede Alverez, the guy who did the Evil Dead remake (which was actually really good) as well as Don't Breathe (another great flick). So it's safe to say he'll do a good job with this franchise. At the very least, I trust it'll be better than Prometheus.
It's too soon to formalize any details for this one. So, for now, just pin it on your schedule and I'll let you know once I've picked a theater, time, and a restaurant or bar to gather at afterwards!
- Florida Fin FestSeawalk Pavilion, Jacksonville Beach, FL
September is World Beach Month! So this festival is the perfect way to celebrate.
Florida Fin Fest is a free ocean conservation, education, and music festival that takes place at the Jax Beach Seawalk Pavilion every fall. I'll add more details here once the event's lineup gets confirmed!
