Train MMA for Street Self Defense in Burbank

Join us to train managing unknown contacts, kickboxing, clinch, ground, and weapons defense skills while learning to breathe, focus, and stay cool under pressure.

Format/Agenda:

Orientation will include discussion of progressive resistance and ground rules, including safety and longevity as top priorities.

We’ll focus on the performance games (controlled drilling & sparring with specific performance goals) as they are the core of the curriculum. They’ll include standup fighting, clinch, and ground. We may include some situational / scenario training and/or defense against weapons. We will add or remove variables as needed.

Technique will be a secondary focus, and technical direction will depend on the group’s experience and performance of the games.

I have a limited selection of spare protective gear. Bring whatever training gear you have, including:

• Mouthpiece

• Athletic cup / groin protection

• Safety glasses / racquetball goggles for eye protection

• MMA Sparring Gloves, ideally with 1.5 to 2 inches padding at the knuckles

• Padded Shinguards

• Headgear, ideally Macho MVP Head Gear with MVP face cage

Cost:
First time is free. Otherwise, $20 per indoor Burbank session ($10 for outdoor Los Angeles sessions). JKDU Association Membership is no longer required.
