Geo-hike the Ventura River Preserve with us. We'll hike the Rice-Wills Canyons loop. For much of the route it is shady, that will help some with the Ojai summer temperatures. Route is about 5 miles roundtrip with about 800 ft elevation gain. Pace will be moderate (~2.0 MPH) and we'll make a few short stops to discuss the geology and native plants. We will need to cross the Ventura River that may have some water flow. Bring water shoes, flip-flops, or try to hop the rocks if you trust your balance. There is no sweep and you'll have to navigate yourself back to parking lot if you get behind. Don't forget your water, sunscreen, a hat, and insect neeting.
