Hello, I’m Eva Amery! Neurodivergent, ex-addict, local-outsider, multilingual, pansexual, and a proud weirdo obsessed with books, films, and pop culture. I’m a content creator, storytelling facilitator, podcast host and organiser of this community. 🖖🏼🧡📚🧙🏼‍♀️🎙️

🟠 WHAT IS THIS COMMUNITY ABOUT?

This community is made by humans and pro-humans.
We vindicate and explore the ordinary and the extraordinary experiences that make us both universal and unique. We advocate a world where every action we take is a vote for the world we want to live in.

It sits at the intersection of philosophy, well-being, and culture (especially the narrative arts), and its main goal is to learn how to be a human in the modern era. We care about:

🟠 WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES DO WE OFFER?

We believe humans are not made of genes, but stories.
It’s only in the presence of another human that we discover who we really are, says Esther Perel.

We create spaces that foster more connection and less polarisation –especially around gender, nationalities, languages, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.– and that’s THE ESSENCE behind every one of the activities we propose:

Community conversations and debates, playful gatherings, multicultural and language exchanges, self-discovery sessions, spiritual practices, reading clubs, artistic shows, cultural events, communication improvs and role-plays, and much more!

🟠 WHAT LANGUAGES ARE THE EVENTS IN?

For now, mainly Spanglish (EN/ES), but here all languages are welcome. The intention is that, as the community grows, we create events in different languages so all local-outsiders can be represented and listened to in their preferred language. 3rd culture people who speak Arabic, German, French, Italian, or any other language can propose different events during our monthly community gatherings.

🚫 WHAT IS NOT Humans Academy?

This is NOT another "social drinks meetup"; this is A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT COMMUNITY that promotes REAL human connection.

Here we ask our members to behave AS IF they were already living in the society they always dreamt of having. That means to GROW together, to WORK on the difficulties of maintaining relationships in today’s world, to be willing to ASK for help and to have the same predisposition to having fun as well as to being vulnerable. And also OPEN to receive so much love!
Here we BELONG. We don’t “just fit in”; your voice matters.

🗓️ HOW DO WE DO THAT?

Every month, we create a new event for new members (max 10). These members (called local-outsiders) will enrich the group with their idiosyncratic and genuine cultural background and commit to the reciprocity flow of the community. But, above all, they come with an ACUTE AWARENESS of the greatest societal difficulties and an open mind to listen to other ways of living and expressing in the world, so we all can thrive as a COLLECTIVE.

Additionally, a willingness to express their vulnerabilities and personal struggles, especially during philosophical conversations about the topics that matter most, when building this community in Málaga and online.

We believe in the power of communication and storytelling to connect on a deeper level, as well as the power of facilitation to provide the safest environment possible so people can share and contribute as much as they want in a pressure-free, playful atmosphere that welcomes every member to express their perfectly imperfect humanity.

💡WHERE DOES THIS SOCIAL EXPERIMENT COMMUNITY IDEA COME FROM?

This comes from all my past experiences as a neurodivergent, multicultural, and ex-addict, who now helps other addicts in their identity recovery and reconnection process.
After many years of trying to outperform in a world built for a few privileged neurotypicals with conventional and linear life paths and failing miserably, I thought it was time to change the narrative.

I realised the solution was not to “improve myself to fit better”, but rather to create spaces where societal norms could be questioned, where neurodivergent people stop accommodating a limited relational perspective, where we promote and teach the world minorities needs, where we don’t have to exist in constant fear of invalidation and where communication pitfalls, disagreement and misunderstanding don’t feel like the end of our social life but an inextricably necessary part of it.

If all this resonated with you, if you’ve always wanted to be part of a new community where you can finally be unapologetically yourself– creative, funny, weird, imperfect, playful–, and find friends for life, WELCOME TO HUMANS ACADEMY! The place where you’ll feel the therapeutic power of stories, culture and social connection. The therapeutic power of discovering that your imperfect version is also welcome.
