Fahnestock Series: East Mountain from Hubbard Lodge

Distance: ~4.4 miles, Time: ~2 hours, Elevation gain: 755 feet

Gear: Water, snacks if you wish, hiking boots, wicking clothing, headlamp just in case

Once you turn in by the sign for Hubbard Lodge, bear left - there will be a sign saying "trails". Continue past a house on your left and just beyond the house, parking is on the side of the road. We will meet near Hubbard Lodge to start the hike.

Our route will take us along some generally flat old roads, and then a fairly steep ascent up East Mountain. We start on a trail blazed both white and blue. We will continue on the white School Mountain Road trail until we hit the red East Mountain Loop trail. The trail is generally flat or with a gradual gain up to this point. We will make a left on red and ascend East Mountain. Time to go uphill! Once at the top, we will head back down the mountain the way we came. On our return, we will bear right onto the Hubbard Loop, which eventually reconnects with the white and blue trail we started on.
