July Meetup in Kingston

Details
It's a good thing that the A/C in the Senate Garage is top quality because this months Hudson Valley Tech Meetup is HOT! We will be burning up with technical fabulousness both local and global. Please RSVP now to reserve your lightly padded seat.
We're sponsored this month by the innovative and ever-so-helpful team at Justworks (https://justworks.com/). It really does. They'll explain.

Also, after a super helpful conversation with the New York State Liquor Authority, we're excited to welcome the return of Awestruck Ciders (http://www.awestruckciders.com/) and Keegan Ales (http://www.keeganales.com/)!

Together with the help of the NYSLA we have figured out how to give you the opportunity to support our local craft brewers directly at our events by paying a couple bucks for a hand crafted glass of alcoholic awesome. So bring some cash and you can pay the brewers directly after you finish your first round on us. We really love and appreciate our local craft beverage partners and we hope that you do too. Drink local!
So, about that meetup, it goes like this:
Did you know that the Head of Typography for Adobe Typekit (https://typekit.com/) & Adobe Type (http://www.adobe.com/products/type.html) lives in Kingston?! That's right, Tim Brown (http://tbrown.org/) will be in the house my friends. Dan Schutzsmith has been stalking him for way too long and the day has finally arrived! We are stoked and you should be too. We're not sure exactly what flavor of fresh Tim is gonna drop on us but you can bet it will be well kerned.
Next up we'll have a product talk and demo from local good wizards, Loud-Hailer (http://www.loud-hailer.com/). Co-founder and CEO Jack Chen (https://twitter.com/loudhailing) will talk to us about their patent-pending technologies that use Bluetooth Low Energy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_low_energy) (BLE) to create mesh networks which enable connected devices to share data ANYWHERE (subway, desert, cruise ship, Mt. Everest, whatever) without accessing the internet. It also supports indoor user positioning, hyper local proximity advertising and some augmented reality stuff that we can't even discuss legally yet. This is so badass and it is LOCALLY MADE. Sick. Get some.
Then just when you thought it couldn't get any more awesome - just as you felt certain the A/C can't possibly compensate for this July meetup heat, we introduced speaker number three. AMY HOY (https://twitter.com/amyhoy)!!!! Yes you read that correctly, friends. Amy and her husband Thomas Fuchs (https://twitter.com/thomasfuchs), co-founders of Freckle (https://letsfreckle.com/) and two of our tech startup heroes (because they ship real software (http://mir.aculo.us/) and work really really hard on it) are gonna bootstrap themselves all the way up from Philly just for Hudson Valley Tech Meetup (but probably also to visit with Aaron (https://twitter.com/aq) who just had his second kiddo (https://twitter.com/aq/status/747887377683714048)!).
Amy (more than just an internet business wiseass (https://unicornfree.com/)) will exhort you - yes you! - to A. write a technical book and B. make money from it for C. the good of all. And she'll tell you how, too. (Hint: it's nowhere near as horrible as you think.)
That's a serious tech meetup lineup right there folks. We made it for you and we hope that you feel the love we have for this gorgeous community that is just busting out with stupendous in every direction! We feel really fortunate and excited to be building this with you and the universe. Respect, and thank you.
Oh yeah, and one more thing, we're debuting our HOUSE BAND this month! Zac Shaw (http://zacshaw.com/) and Joe Maggio have played in many bands together over the years - most notably the duet called Ads (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6zApFXYCuA) where they weave together indie rock rhythms with 1990's television jingles and freestyle songs for their YouTube subscribers using only iPhone 3GS apps and their sometimes NSFW vocabularies. Zac is also the co-founder of local apocalyptic drum&bass duo Dead Unicorn (http://deadunicorn.com/) and the founder of local digital marketing shop, Catskill Digital (http://catskilldigital.com/). So what does a house band look like at a tech meetup? We're as excited to find out as you are!
If you'd like to come help this month please email hello@hvtech.org We'd particularly appreciate some help setting up chairs around 3PM and dropping a lure module at our Pokestop around 4:30.
