Stairway to Nature – River Place Canyon Trail Night Hike - MOSC Prep

Details

Join us for a monthly hike through one of Austin's most scenic and demanding trails—the River Place Nature Trail—as we build toward the Second Annual Midnight Outlaw Summit Challenge, taking place in May 2026.
This hike isn’t just about views (though there are plenty). It’s about testing your grit, sharpening your focus, and building the endurance you'll need for the 24-hour Guadalupe Peak challenge next spring.

As a side quest we will aim to find the Texas Hill Country Summer Slam!

Trail Details:

  • Distance: Approximately 5.4 miles round trip
  • Difficulty: Moderate to challenging
  • Elevation Gain: Significant, with numerous stairs and elevation changes
  • Terrain: Well-maintained path featuring lush greenery, small waterfalls, and scenic overlooks
  • Mindset: Show up ready to push yourself and support others doing the same

Be prepared for a workout—this trail includes over 2,700 steps one way.

Be sure to bring plenty of water (at least 1–2 liters), grippy shoes or trail runners for the stairs and rocky terrain, and don’t forget a headlamp.

A light snack for the turnaround point is a great idea, along with cash or a card for the trail fee on the weekends. Most importantly, bring your good energy and trail etiquette—we’re all out here to enjoy the hike together!

Parking is available near the trailhead on River Place Blvd. Please be respectful of local residents and observe any posted parking regulations.

Whether you're training for Guadalupe or just love a challenge, this hike is for you. Let’s move with intention—one summit at a time.

If there is a charge when you arrive to hike, attendants will be at the trailheads taking credit card payments (no cash is accepted).
