Outdoor Adventure Series Kickoff Discussion

Details
Believe it or not, camping in Texas is often more comfortable in the cooler months. With the right gear, staying warm is no problem and the crisp air, quiet nights, and bug-free campsites make winter camping a hidden gem.
This series of three camping trips will take us to some of Texas’s most scenic and unique spots, each with its own adventure and vibe. Whether you’re an experienced camper or brand new to the outdoors, this is your chance to explore, learn, and connect with fellow nature lovers.
This event is to kick things off with a casual, sit-down discussion for newcomers or curious about joining. We’ll cover the basics...what gear you actually need, how to stay warm and dry in winter, and safety essentials for Texas parks. It’s also a chance to ask questions, meet fellow campers ahead of time, and get comfortable before you set foot on the trail. Whether you’ve never camped before or just want to brush up on skills, this discussion will set you up for a safe, fun, and stress-free trip.
The Camping Timeline
Trip #1 – October 2025: Inks Lake State Park
We’ll catch the tail end of warm weather, so swimming and cliff jumping at Devil’s Waterhole is still on the table! We’ll also explore the park’s scenic hiking trails and soak in the Hill Country views.
Trip #2 – December 2025: Colorado Bend State Park
This rugged gem offers dramatic landscapes, hidden caves, and the stunning Gorman Falls hike. The cooler weather is perfect for tackling some of the park’s longer trails without the Texas summer heat.
Trip #3 – March 2026: Davis Mountains Preserve
A high-country escape in far West Texas. This trip will double as a training and prep hike for the Midnight Outlaw Summit Challenge, where we’ll climb one of Texas’ highest peaks, Mount Livermore, the 5th tallest in the state. Expect breathtaking views, crisp air, and nights under some of the clearest skies in the country.
This series is about
