Range day! (Shotguns in Lockhart)

I'll be at Lone Star Gun Range from 9 AM to noon with a buddy shooting clay pigeons. Would love to meet new people. If it goes well I can host this monthly, either shotguns each month or some rotating theme. If it's raining or muddy our back up will be the .22 steel range.

What I like about shooting shotguns is it's much more exciting and social than paper targets. A good hit turns a clay pigeon to dust or makes it explode, it's a group activity because one person launches while one person shoots, and it's slower paced so people can talk and get to know each other when it's not their turn to shoot.

If you don't have a year pass the range fee is $23. I think 50 clay pigeons is about the same, if you bring your own there's still a loading fee but it's much cheaper (bring Blackout, not Champion brand. They are also WAY cheaper at Academy than anywhere else). Expect to pay about $40 if you bring your own stuff, $75+ if you buy it at the range. Spectators are free. They have gun rentals at the range but I will have PLENTY to share.

When you arrive, check in at the office where you will read the rules, pay, and get a quick rundown of range safety procedures. Then, walk up the path to the left outside the office past the .22 steel targets. You'll see a picnic table and wooden shooting booths, that's where we'll be.
