Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. The idea is "Cancer never sleeps, so neither do we." Team members spend the months leading up to the event raising money in the form of pledges from friends, families, and businesses. Then, starting at 9am on Saturday, May 16, teams have at least one person on the track walking laps at all times for the next 24 hours until the event's completion at 9am Sunday.

You do not need to commit for the whole 24 hours. We will have a tent, tables and chairs, and snacks and drinks. Those that aren't walking on the track will be talking, playing games, or participating in other activities at the event. Please sign up for a shift here. While it helps our planning if you stick to the time you sign up for, nobody is going to be mad at you if you sign up for a shift and then either need to change it or cancel it.

Relay for life is usually a fun, high energy event for a good cause, but this is also a great opportunity for the community to see that atheists are caring, generous, charitable people. And it's a good way for us to be more visible and recruit for our group as well. Additionally, if you have lost a loved one to cancer, this is an opportunity to tell their story and keep their memory alive. Hope to see you there!

If you cannot be there physically, consider helping us with our fundraising here.
