at The Spark in Boulder 4847 Pearl Street Suite B4 in Boulder
Join us for a 7-week Fundamentals of Improv Class where you'll learn the art of improvisation through engaging and diverse exercises.
In the first week, you'll dive into the core principles of "Yes, And," practicing CROW (Character, Relationship, Objective, Where), and honing your skills with 3 line and conflict scenes. As you progress, you'll develop characters through emotional choices and character walks, explore relationships in-depth by endowing characters with specific traits, and practice creating strong, dynamic scenes.
In the latter weeks, you'll delve into the intricacies of maintaining relationships in scenes, heightening comedic elements through the "First Weird Thing" exercise, and experimenting with the La Ronde format for interconnected scenes. After the final week, you'll be ready to showcase your newfound skills in a graduation performance, applying all that you've learned about character creation, relationships, object work, and longform improvisation. This class promises to be a fun, creative, and enriching journey, perfect for anyone looking to unleash their inner improviser and shine on stage.
Taught by Andrew Long, a long-time improviser and teacher from Chaos Bloom in Denver, this class promises a fun, gratifying, and hands-on learning experience.
The class meets on Mondays from 6:30 to 9 pm, for 7 weeks, starting Monday, March 16th through April 27, 2026, with a capstone showcase performance (date TBD). The classes will be held at the Spark Theatre in Boulder
