Game of the Scene with Dal Houtz
Game of the scene is basically the fun thing you and your scene partner discover together. It’s the pattern, behavior, or point of view that makes everyone go, “Ohhh, that’s what’s funny here,” and then you keep playing with it.
Here’s how it usually works:
### 1. Notice the First Weird Thing
Something pops out—maybe a character reacts way too intensely, or someone has a very specific opinion about something silly. Whatever it is, it’s a little unusual, and it sparks the fun.
### 2. Lean Into It
Once you spot that unusual thing, you don’t ignore it. You make it clearer. You repeat it. You let it shape the scene. You’re basically saying, “Yep, this is the thing we’re playing with.”
### 3. Heighten Together
Now you and your partner build on that pattern. You explore it in new ways, push it a little further, and see where the logic takes you. It’s not about going bigger—it’s about going smarter and staying connected.
## 🌱 Why It’s Great
- It gives your scene a clear focus.
- It helps you and your partner get on the same page fast.
- It creates comedy that feels natural instead of forced.
- It keeps the audience delighted because they’re in on the pattern with you.
