• Arabic Conversations (Any Level)
A "language café" style meet-up for Arabic learners of any level. Sit down, have a coffee and some fun conversation with a mixed group of people! NEW HOST WANTED! I (Emma, original host) originally started this to have a place to practice Arabic during the summer. Now that the term has started, I am no longer able to attend regularly. I am leaving the events up on the website because other people seemed to be enjoying the meetups too! BUT, it would be great if someone who is able to attend more often could take over as host! If you are interested, please let me know!

  • Intermediate ENGLISH
*** Just thought I'd inform people that from time to time I won't be able to make it to the event. Hopefully some of the regulars will be able to help the newer people find the group/respond to comments. *** Welcome to the Sunday group for intermediate level English. This is a casual conversation group where people who want to improve their English can come, chat and have a coffee (or another beverage, if you so desire). There will be no set topic or structure to the meeting aside from coming to the cafe and chatting about whatever's on your mind. Advanced and native speakers are also welcome to come and help out. It should be noted that helpers are not expected to be teachers, however, if you have some questions I'm sure they will be more than willing to try to help you out. Please be considerate to other members by keeping your RSVPs up to date and attending events when you indicate that you will. If you're on the waiting list, please check your status in case you've been moved up to the Attendees list. If the cafe happens to be closed, the group will meet in the Non Solo Bar on the other side of the street.

  • Advanced SWEDISH conversation
Welcome to the regular Sunday Swedish group at an advanced level. NOTE!!! The event host(s)/helpers are far from always able to attend this meetup. Due to forgetfulness and/or bugs in the Meetup app hosts might falsely be indicated as "attending". Therefore, please check for comments on how to find the hosts, or other people standing in, before heading for the event. This will typically be posted a day or more before the event. NOTE!!! This meetup is intended for people at an ADVANCED level of Swedish. This means you should at the very least be able to keep a simple conversation in the Swedish language (perfection not necessary; we meet to learn) and be able to follow most of what is being said in a Swedish news broadcast. If you are not at this level, go to the beginner or intermediate groups instead. Everybody will be able to practice the Swedish language with other people willing to do the same. This will be achieved through conversation on current topics which will assist in making sure there is always something to talk about. After this advanced group, you are more than welcome to help with the intermediate and basic groups: helping people who are looking for words, correcting them when they make mistakes... or just speak with them. Note that helpers are not teachers, everybody in the group should help the discussion running. Feel free to bring any ideas of input with you, topics for discussion, questions, or any language game you may think may work... *** WARNING: pickpockets *** Phones, laptops and wallets have been stolen, so please watch your stuff (even in the pockets of your jackets that hang on your seat)! ************** Please be considerate of other members by keeping your RSVPs up to date and attending events when you indicate that you will. If you're on the waiting list, please check your status in case you've been moved up to the Attendees list.

  • English Debate Club
This week's topic: Own or rent — what is the best way to live? Should you own or rent several places? Should you rent out to others? Is it time to step off the property ladder? Directions to the place Ⓣ Metro Station - Gamla Stan The English Debate Club: Challenge and improve your English skills with lively discussions and debates! Sometimes we stick to debate format, other times it evolves into a general discussion. Participants are welcome to prepare beforehand or wing it - but everyone will be encouraged to contribute to the discussion. Focus will be on crafting arguments in English, phrasing for emphasis and expanding vocabulary at an advanced level. Native English speakers who would like to brush up on their debating skills very welcome also! It's okay to interject and to reply directly as long as it does not get out of hand (in which case a speaker's list will be more strictly enforced). People who have not spoken much get precedence. If you just like to sit and listen that is fine too. For the few who really like to talk at length: You may be interrupted and asked for clarification, or it may be pointed out that you're repeating yourself. First hour is usually a bit more free form, looking at the subject from different angles, and then we may home in on specifics more during the second hour For previously discussed topics, see: https://debateclubtopics.wordpress.com/

  • RUSSIAN/SWEDISH with Anna (You must speak Some Swedish and Russian) 6.15-7.45
This is a great opportunity to practice your Russian, Swedish or both in a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere with native speakers!!! Everybody can come: beginners, amateurs and experts. But please note, if you are wanting to come just for Swedish at a basic level, it is better you join one of the dedicated Swedish groups. This will be hosted by Anna, a native Russian speaker. We will start at 6.15pm and finish at 7.45pm speaking approximately 45 minutes of Russian and another 45 minutes of Swedish. We will be a Russian-speaking group of several people. Beware of pickpockets there and keep an eye on your belongings! Добро пожаловать :-) eller varmt välkommen :-)

  • FRENCH conversation
This group will meet for those people wanting to practice their French with a native French speaker We will focus mainly on the flow of conversation. This will be achieved through conversation led by Jonas and if the group is large enough through games, which will assist in making sure there is always something to talk about. As we are meeting in a café that doesn't earn anything from our presence, we ask everybody to buy something, even if it's something small.
