What we're about

Benvenuti a tutti!

This is a relaxed and friendly group always open to new members who can speak in Italian (we are not a beginners group). At the moment we always meet at least twice a month. Once a month at a pub in central London during the week and once at a month for an aperitivo at the weekend, usually at an italian bar or restaurant.

We also usually have other events during the month which can include picnics, cinema nights, walks, wine tasting, quizzes, reading nights, big national football matches or visits to the theatre.

The meetups are fun, very sociable and everyone is welcome as long as they speak an intermediate level of Italian. However this is not a meet up where you can learn italian, that is not the aim of the group. The standard is advanced but if you speak a reasonable level of Italian you are welcome to come along and see if they enjoy it. People are expected to speak in Italian most of the time.

This means that if you speak no Italian sadly we are not the group for you. The aim of the group is to speak Italian and if people that only speak English attend it undermines the primary goal of the group.

You'll be amazed at how much progress you make in conversation after just a few events. People are there mostly because they want to improve, brush-up on their Italian or they are Italian. With about 40-60 people coming to the monthly events, it is easy to wander around and find people of your level with whom you feel really comfortable speaking Italian.

Simply join and if you are interested enough to come along, just click the appropriate button. An automatic mail message will be sent to you whenever a new event becomes available or if ever there is a change in the event.

Regular members have to pay £10 (£5 if you are unemployed) (https://www.meetup.com/italian-35/messages/boards/thread/10250003) and this is not optional if you wish to attend meetings. Paid members have first option on any events where attendance is limited.

Payment can be made in cash to myself at our events.

Alternatively you can pay by Pay Pal.

Santa’s Elves Italian Aperitivo

19 Camden Psge

£10.00

Hi all

On Saturday, 10 December we'll be visiting Egro for Xmas aperitivo at Egro - details to follow.

It will a great chance to speak in Italian, a reminder we are not a beginners group, to meet some new people and enjoy the Christmas festival.

Please join the waiting list. Some people have been having difficulties joining the list, if so please message me and I'll add you.

We have a capacity of 40 places, which are always filled, with the places initially given to Full Members and later to other members of the group: https://www.meetup.com/italian-35/discussions/6755397671428696/chat/

The £10 entrance fee (pay on the door) includes one beer or wine glass and Italian snack and tapas - details to follow.

Remember artisanal wine, beer, Italian liqueurs, gin and prosecco from small Italian producers is also available for purchase after your first beverage.

You are expected to RSVP correctly by 10pm Friday, 9 December.
This is important so we can get the numbers right and if you can't come please update your RSVP.

I regularly remove people from the group who do not RSVP correctly as we always have a waiting list and it is unfair to take a place when someone else could come.

Egro London, 19 Camden Passage, N1 8EA.

More about EGRO POP, the Bistro of Egro' The Experiential Grocery.
https://www.egrolondon.co.uk/

The owners Selena and Alessandro select from Italy only high quality food, working with excellent small producers and building here in the UK a multi-sensitive experience for allowing people to know about what they eat.

In total respect for the environment, all products are organic and often
some are seasonal and impossible to find all year round.
Egro POP's menu takes into account the rhythm of nature and offers simple traditional Italian dishes.

The focaccia bread by starred chef Niko Romito made with Italian wheat,
ancient grains and senatore cappelli semolina, stuffed with salami and rare creamy cheeses or with organic vegetables and the black truffle of Molise.

Stuffed pasta with buffalo and truffle, wild boar, pumpkin, and much more. Lasagne with ragu' and aubergine parmigiana. Then the legendary tiramisu, handmade and fresh every day. All this is accompanied by a selection of natural and biodynamic wines, craft beers, Gin and Mirto di Sardegna.

Alessandro and Selena have created with Egro a tasty way to take an interactive journey through Italy. Because food is the best bridge between cultures.

Italian meet-up goes to the British Museum

The British Museum

The British Museum (https://britishmuseum.org/) houses a vast collection of world art and artifacts and is free to all visitors. So we're going to visit!

The plan is to meet at the rear entrance, Montague Place,(https://britishmuseum.org/visiting.aspx) at 7pm on Friday 13 January.

People will then visit the museum in small groups, depending on numbers. Basically, there are too many of us to be one group and people will want to see different things.

Please join the waiting list.

We have a capacity of 30 places with the places initially given to Full Members and later to other members of the group: https://www.meetup.com/italian-35/discussions/6755397671428696/chat/

We'll then meet outside at 8.15pm for a drink afterwards.
