What we’re about
The mission of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is to lead Colorado to an energy efficient and renewable energy economy through education, policy advancement, and economic development.
The Jefferson County chapter of CRES serves all of Jefferson County in Colorado, including Golden and the Denver suburbs. JCRES works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. We host meetings and events to help members and the public connect with the ideas and people that make renewable energy and energy efficiency happen.

See all- What makes Green Homes so efficient?Jefferson Unitarian Church, Golden, CO
Now that I have your attention: Yes, attendees are going to learn a lot about the strategies and technologies of Green homes – and there's even Woody's pizza!
But here's the catch: This event is primarily aimed at volunteers willing to spend a morning (8:30-12:30) or afternoon (12:30-4:30) shift at one of the fascinating homes on the annual Metro Denver Green Homes Tour two days later on Sat, Oct 7.
We are still short on volunteers. Having done this myself a few times I truly enjoyed my shifts. After a briefing by the home owner on the specific features and the rules for the visitors, you guide and supervise visitors, answer their questions and hear from their experiences. Then you're free to see some other homes yourself during the other shift, and stay for the reception and sustainability fair starting at 5pm.
Use this signup link or ask Ellen your questions about locations and available shifts: ellen@twinsprings.com. (The sooner the better!)
This training is held by 'house whisperer' John Avenson (see him in action here.)
In addition, you're welcome to stick around for a 7pm presentation by Joan Gregerson: Winning Strategies for Going Solar under Time-Of-Use Rates
This co-sponsored event is organized by New Energy Colorado (NECO) as part of the annual Metro Denver Green Homes Tour on Sat, Oct 7. Details here: newenergycolorado.com/home-tour
