You dream of being more independent or taking the next steps, but don't know how? Or you are trying to find an audience willing to pay for your words? Then this WORKSHOP on CROWDFUNGING you own WRITING PROJECTS is exactly for you! 🤑💰😎
This workshop have limited seats available**. Reserve your spot today!**
ABOUT THE EVENT
Let's face it: making money as a writer isn't easy. 😢 Here, I'll will present strategies and experiences with CROWDFUNDING so that you, too, can get (financial) wind in your writing career! 😀💸🤩
I will give a presentation of financies strategies on two platforms: KICKSTARTER and PATREON based on my own succesful project which has raised more than 10,000 USD last year on Kickstarter "The Dessert that Changed the World". I will also talk about my recently launched Patreon page which is off to a great start.
The focus will be on my own (science) writing, but you will learn tools applicable to raising funds for any writing.
From this workshop you will get away with is and plans for your own writing project. You will gain plenty of ideas, inspirations and suggestions that can be used on any projects, genres, mediums, plans you are developing, and crowdfunding platforms you want to explore.
After a presentation (about 30-45 minutes) about crowdfunding, focussing on what worked well, and what didn't work that well, we will have a practical exercise, a group discussion, and there will be time for questions.
At the end of the presentation, everyone will be prompted to prepare a short plan and pricing of their (mock) public facing crowdfunding campaign. You will be asked to answer the following questions: What products you'd like to offer as reward to supporters? How would you price them? What other strategies could you use to get succesfully funded? What are your goals? After about 20-30 minutes of work on your assignment, we will discuss together (some) of the plans presented by attendees.
For any questions not answered in the project description, feel free to post a comment in the event page.

BOOK CLUB: Heart of a Dog 🐕 by Mikhail Bulgakov with Jakarta Writers
Wisangkopi Panglima Polim, Jl. Panglima Polim V No.9, RT.4/RW.6, Melawai, Kec. Kby. Baru, Jakarta, IDHello, Jakarta Writer! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet? Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊
JakWri (former Jakarta Writers) and JakFri is the biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this BOOK CLUB discussing "Heart of a Dog" 🐕 by Mikhail Bulgakov!
Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The idea is very simple: we will meet and discuss the book. Everyone will receive a copy of the book as PDF beforehand for free (which we kindly ask not to share with everyone - this book discussion is for educational purposes). Reach out to the host to receive the PDF, and feel free to ask any question in the discussion section of the event page.
Everyone is encouraged to read the short book (in English, about 300 pages) beforehand to participate to the discussion. Coming without having read the book is possible, but just half the fun.
The host will give a short introduction about the book and guide through the discussion, which will be very informal and fun. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions. This event is introvert friendly! No one will be put on the spot or forced to speak. Just join and share your passion for literature, no matter how much you read.
This is a dream event for anyone who wishes to take a deep dive into literature and have a fun, social lunch time. Our book club will be in English. Everyone's English level is OK as this is a nice occasion to practice English in an informal and welcoming setting.
ABOUT THE BOOK
A parody on the "New Soviet Man" and eugenics, Bulgakov's satirical and biting novella remains one of the more odd and fascinating takes on Bolshevism.Sharik, the dog, finds itself rescued by the brilliant and arrogant Profesor Preobrazhensky from the streets full of its natural enemy: the proletariats. One day, the Profesor ends up experimenting on the pampered and fattened Sharik as part of his research on rejuvenation, only for the operation to take a sharp and bizarre turn.
It's best to enter into this book blind, bearing only the questions of which one is more horrifying: the heart of a dog or the heart of a man.
Discover more about the book on Goodreads!
