ABOUT THE EVENT
Have you ever heard of the "stream of consciousness" writing style? It might be different for everyone, but in a nutshell, it is a state in which words freely flow on the page.

For this fun event, we will do exactly that... together! You don't need to be a writer to join this event. The fun part is that "stream of consciousness" is raw, unedited, unbridled writing! So, anyone can achieve it.

You only need two things: a device with internet connection (like laptop, tablet, or phone) and the willingness to write in English (doesn't need to be perfect English).

The idea is very simple. We will all work on a shared Google Document and we will take turns to write one sentence each. There's no theme, topic, style, or guidance. You'll just jot down what streams out of your consciusness without too many thoughts and in a fairly quick time. The only caveat is that the sentence has to begin with the last word of the previous sentence.

After about 1-1,5h of writing (with as many breaks and new starts as we wish) we will stop and vote the "best" sentence! We will need to define what we mean by "best" -- this could be, for example, the most funny or the most surprising sentence! The winner gets a free drink! 😄

ABOUT THE VENUE
Unfinished is a lovely a cafe with an open space and view on the greenery. It's a new café with an industrial vibe and strategically located in the middle of Jakarta. There's both smoking and non-smoking areas.

We encourage you to reach the event by public transportation. MRT Blok M is just 10 minutes walk!

ABOUT THE HOST
Corrado Nai has a Ph.D. in microbiology and writes mostly about science. His feature articles has been published in Smithsonian Magazine, New Scientist, Reactor, Small Things Considered, and many more. Currently he's writing a graphic novel about agar-agar's surprising role in science, called "The Dessert That Changed the World".

HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?
To register, just click “Attend”! There are a few simple rules

We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
Be on time! Don’t be early!
People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event if they got a spot
Repeated no-show (3X) without updating RSVP will be removed from the group.
Last minute cancellations (within 2 h of the event) unless for exceptional circumstances still count as no-shows!
Attendees who bring a +1 need to make sure the guest understands and agrees to our rule of respect and inclusivity

WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. HOW DOES IT WORK?
Since September 2024, our community has a membership fee of 300k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Membership fee is offered with a promo discount to new members and first-timers, who can become members for 220k IDR/year. First-timers can decide to attend one event for free and see if they like becoming part of this community.

Membership to both Jakarta Friends and Jakarta Creatives is offered for only 390k IDR/year. Membership gives access to all events plus exclusive perks available only to paying members, like for example our Give Away Birthday Celebrations with lucky draw (Sept 2024) or FREE pasta cooking (and eating 😉) workshop (Nov 2024) or Museum visits with FREE GUIDED TOURS (Sept 2024). To many events, attendees can bring a +1 for free.

First-timers can decide to attend one event for free and see if they like becoming part of this community. Membership can be paid on the spot (cash/bank transfer/Gopay). Text Corrado (+62 89211 489 3580) if you have any questions about membership.

To all members we guarantee to keep organizing plenty of events. You will receive a full refund if the group closes down, or if there’s no event happening in three months.
