How to make new friends in this urban jungle? Simple. We are Jakarta Friends. Everyone is welcome to join the community.
We are the biggest, first, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us!
Jakarta Friends is the community to meet new people while doing unique activities in Jakarta. We eat and drink together, play board games, talk business, socialize, have potlucks, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more!
Together with the group Jakarta Writers (which mostly focus on storytelling) we are all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This community is a convergence of people and cultures.
Over the past 3,5 years, with Jakarta Friends & Jakarta Writers we have had over 250 events with about 2,000 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.
We have a yearly membership fee to join our events. This is explained in detail in every event description. The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events, while guaranteeing that hosting events remains sustainable for the organisers. There's much more value to members in a yearly fee than in an event fee.
We guarantee to keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for a sneak peek price!

An important note about this community: This group welcomes everyone who genuinely wants to connect. The organisers won't tolerate any of the following behaviours:
- marketing promotions without checking with the admin first (including aggressive marketing strategies, pet trading, self-centered offers, non-relevant posts)
- negativity and blaming (including spreading false information, not helping each other, criticizing without offering a honest feedback or alternative solutions)
- harrassement, discrimination, intolerance, disrespectful behaviour
- it's important that people respect RSVP at event, and are respectful of everyone's time and efforts in organising events
- anyone who feels unsafe or unwelcome at an event is encouraged to report this to the organisers or to the Meetup help center

Think you can escape before time runs out?
Join us for an immersive escape-room adventure at Pandora Experience, Mall Taman Anggrek! Instead of simply solving puzzles in a room, you'll step into a themed world filled with challenges, surprises, and plenty of moments where teamwork really matters.
The experience lasts approximately 60–90 minutes, so come prepared to think, explore, work together—and hopefully escape!
Whether you're an experienced escape-room player or you've never tried one before, everyone is welcome. No special skills required—just bring your curiosity and willingness to have fun!
After the experience, we're planning to grab dinner together nearby for anyone who'd like to join. Dinner is completely optional, so feel free to join us just for Pandora.

Once registered, you’ll have 24 hours to transfer the ticket fee of Rp260,000.

ABOUT THE HOST
Your host for this event will be Gina, a seasoned local with a lot of knowledge about the city and eager to welcome new friends to our community.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT?
To register, just click “Attend”! There are a few simple rules
- We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update their RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
- Don't be late! We need to hop on the bus together
- People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event to see if they got a spot
- 3X no-show = removal from the group.
- Attendees who bring a +1 need to make sure that the guest understands and agrees to our rule of mutual respect and inclusivity
- Cancellations within 2 hours of the event are unfriendly to organisers, venues, and fellow attendees, and will be considered a no-show.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Join us for a nostalgic weekend culinary adventure at Kampoeng Tempo Doeloe (KTD), the famous annual food festival hosted at Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading! Entry to the event is free.
The venue features hundreds of legendary Indonesian street foods and traditional delicacies—ranging from sweet and savory treats to both halal and non-halal specialties. For those interested in exploring Indonesian wine and cheese, there is a dedicated section located nearby in the non-halal area.
Important note: Only attendees who registered for the event will be able to join us. This is to make sure that we keep this community safe and accountable. If anyone notices or experiences an unpleasant behaviour from a member, please report to the group admins. Thank you!

Getting There: Highly accessible via LRT Kelapa Gading (get off at LRT Boulevard Utara station).

WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our community has a membership fee that make sure we can keep organising plenty of events as we did over the past 4 years.
Membership can be paid as a yearly membership of 340k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Pay online ahead of the event to get 10% off! Membership gives access to all events plus exclusive perks**(*)** available only to paying members.
As a first-timer, you have several options:
- Option A: Join with a promo discount for first-timers for 250k IDR/year. Get 10% if you pay online ahead of the event!
- Option B: Not sure if you want to join for a year? Join with a 50k IDR sneak peek option & pay the remaining 290k IDR at the next event
- Option C: Bundle offer to join both Jakarta Friends and Jakarta Writers for 390k IDR instead of 680k IDR. First-timers only.
All three options can be redeemed with an additional 10% discount when paid online ahead of an event.
In the past 3,5 years we have organised ~2-3 events per week (browse past event of JakFri here and of JakWri here). That is, with your membership you can attend up to 5-10 events/month!
**(*)**This is a non-exhaustive list of special events we have had for paying members only. A Give Away Birthday Celebrations with lucky draw, a Free pasta cooking (and eating 😉) workshop or a Museum visits with free guided tours.
We guarantee to keep organizing plenty of events. You will receive a full refund if the group closes down, or if there’s no event happening in three months.
