We are the oldest, biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us! Everyone is always welcome.

Jakarta Friends is the community to meet new people while doing unique activities in Jakarta. We play board games, talk business, socialize, eat and drink together, have potlucks, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more! It's all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This group is a convergence of people and cultures. You might want to check out the group Jakarta Writers, too!

Over the past 3 years, with Jakarta Friends & Jakarta Writers we have had over 250 events with about 2,000 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.

We have a yearly membership fee to join our events. This is explained more in detail in the group discussion! The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events + exclusive perks! There's so much more value to members than having an event fee. We guarantee keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for free and take a look!

    ABOUT THE EVENT

    Just join and enjoy a simple and wonderful occasion to connect authentically with people. We will sit down and eat together. Everyone is welcome to join. First-timers particularly welcomed! Our community is inclusive and favours authentic connections and conversations.

    We will meet from 6.30 PM and share some delicious food! I encourage everyone to be on time so that we can decide together what to order and try many different things. At the end, we will share the bill in equal parts (except for the booze). You can arrive later, but be aware that we might already have started eating. If you prefer to order your own food and pay your own bill, that's possible, but please communicate this clearly to avoid miscommunications. The idea is that we share food and try many different dishes!

    After the food, if we feel like it, we can go somewhere nearby and continue the evening with a drink.

    • Cancellation a few hours before the event still counts as a no-show, as it takes the spot away from someone else
    • Don't be early! We want to eat together
    • It's OK if you arrive some time after 6.30 PM, but let's try to eat together, shall we! So, try to make it in time.
    • People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event to see if they got a spot
    • No show at this event without updating RSVP = removal from the group.
    • As the place is small, only 10 guests can attend this event

    Our community has a monthly membership fee that can be paid through the app (2 USD/month or about 33k IDR/month).

    Membership can also be paid as a yearly membership of 320k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Membership fee is offered with a promo discount to first-timers (Option A), who can become members for 240k IDR/year.

    First-timers can decide to join with a sneek peak price of 50k IDR & pay the remaining 270k IDR at the next event (Option B) they attend. Registered +1 can attend for free.

    Renewals (after 365 days) and upgrades (to join JakWri) are offered at a special rate. All this is aimed at encouraging people to sign up, and then to attend as many events as they like!

    Yearly membership can be paid at an event (cash/bank transfer/Gopay) or beforehand (bank transfer/Gopay). Text Corrado (+62 8211 489 3580) if you have any questions about membership.

    Let's have dinner together at Lawless Burger in Menteng. They have burgers, hotdogs, fries, beers, milkshakes.

    Friday night is the time to chill. What better way than sitting together and making new friends in a friendly, informal setting? After burgers, we can walk and continue our evening at one of the many places nearby. We will choose together where to go depending on our mood.

    Newcomers are particularly welcome! Come alone or with a friend or partner. There won't be a shared bill. Everyone will pay for what they consume.

    Lawless is a very decent joint and there will be tables reserved for us. The price range for a burger and drink is about 100 IDR and up.

    • Let's meet directly at Lewless Menteng in Sarinah. There are tables reserved for us (non-smoking area)
    • Don't arrive earlier of the event starts at 8.00 PM -- we want to start together
    • Feel free to arrive later. The last order is at around 10.00 PM. You can also join us after dinner if you prefer, or join only to socialise without eating (please order at least one drink our of respect for the venue)
    • After burgers, we can go have a drink nearby. Text in the comment section if you want to find us later during the evening
    • We encourage you to reach the event by public transportation. MRT stop Bundaran HI is only 5 minutes walking distance

    Calling out for all board gamers to play together! The idea is very simple: We meet, and we play board games! All levels of experience playing board games are welcome. Newcomers are very welcome.

    This event will be at Oksigasi Space, Central Jakarta. Just pay for your own food and drink. We will ask for a split bill! The host will bring various games which are easy to learn on the spot, including Monopoly, Ludo, Halma, Hangman, UNO and more! Feel free to bring your own games, if you want to! No extensive experience as a board gamer needed!

    The event is set to finish at 7.00 PM but might extend longer, if people want to stay! (Feel free to have dinner at this place)
