Hello, Jakarta Writer! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet?
Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊

JakWri and JakFri is the biggest, first, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this SHUT! UP! AND! WRITE! Vol. XXXXVIII *FULLY ONLINE*

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.

ABOUT THE EVENT

In a nutshell: This event will be online! Just log in (with your browser on Google Meet -- link shared with registered attendees only) and get 90 minutes of writing done to kick-start your day! We will write in silence, everyone working on their own project. You don't need to switch the camera on, but you can if you need an extra push to be accountable. You can arrive any time between 4 PM and 5.30 PM WIB/Jakarta time (after 5 PM, I won't let anyone join the virtual room anymore). Just make sure you use the occasion to get some writing done! At 5.20ish PM we will stop writing, switch on our camera, and each take a few minutes to introduce ourselves, and tell what we have done in the past 90 minutes.

The aim is to have many of these online Shut! Up! And! Write! regularly, at different times of the day, to help each other get the writing done! These online series won't replace our in-person SUAW, which will still happen at least once a month.

Cannot join this one because of the timing? Let me know what would be a suitable time for another online 90 minutes writing session!

~~~
So, you want to be a writer? Then shut up and write! Writing is 0.01% "inspiration" and 99.99% getting down to it.
We will meet for a 90 minutes writing session fully online.
It doesn't matter if you are an established writer or if you are picking up pen and paper for the first time. Just show up, get down to it, and start writing. Everyone will be working on their own thing, and we won't talk during writing. If you need some prompt or suggestion on what to write, I'll be happy to give you some ideas.
After the 90 minutes writing session session, we will stop writing and briefly share with each other what we have done. We can also share each other texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.
The rules of the game:
  1. We aim to start together in order not to disrupt the process for everyone. Hovewer, for this online event, join can join anytime between 4 PM and 5 PM. After that, the virtual room will be closed.
  2. No talking during the writing allowed! After joining the virtual room, everyone will focus on their own writing
  3. You can take as many breaks as you want, of course
We have organised this online event before. We have organised this event (in-person) many times before. See all of them here!
