We're going to the highest point of northern Schwarzwald at 1159 m above sea level.
This is a section of Westweg (actually about half of section 4), a long distance trail through Black Forest.
If you are new to hiking or simply want to go back earlier you can take a bus back from Mummelsee.
Details:
- Westweg Etappe 4.1 Unterstmatt - Ruhestein
- 13.1 km, 402m ascent
- estimated walking time around 4 hours
- break at the wonderful Grindehütte (drinks and food)
Options:
- short and easy: stop hiking at Mummelsee, after only 5km and an ascent of around 250m.
- detour to Wildsee: If we have enough time we can do a little detour to Wildsee, a lake in the National Park. It's a very nice trail and will add around 1 hour to the trip.
Getting there:
- Let's meet at Karlsruhe Hbf, platform 10
- taking the RE (direction Freudenstadt) to Forbach, 10:10 am
- taking a bus in Forbach
- arriving at Unterstmatt 11:35, start hiking from there
If you want to come by car, you could go to Unterstmatt and take a bus back there after hiking.
Any questions, comment on this event or message me in English or German.
I encourage you to contribute 2-5 € to cover membership costs. Meetup has been getting quite expensive. I hope we can cover the costs if most of us contribute around once per year.
If you can't give for any reason that's alright, you're still welcome to join!
