A Shout From the Heart

And therefore, all of those for whom authentic transformation has deeply unseated their souls must, I believe, wrestle with the profound moral obligation to shout from the heart—perhaps quietly and gently, with tears of reluctance; perhaps with fierce fire and angry wisdom; perhaps with slow and careful analysis; perhaps by unshakable public example—but authenticity always and absolutely carries a demand and duty: you must speak out, to the best of your ability, and shake the spiritual tree, and shine your headlights into the eyes of the complacent. You must let that radical realization rumble through your veins and rattle those around you.

One Taste: Daily Reflections on Integral Spirituality, (p. 35)

This month our discussion will focus around Integral Activism. The Integral Living Room is hosting a discussion in November called “A Shout from the Heart”, which will include Integral Activism. I have posted links to a call that took place in March of this year. I also started adding notes from the call for those that don’t have time to listen. When completed it should give you enough ideas to join the discussion

There was a 1 hour call in March of 2017 call with Terry Patten, Diane Hamilton and Jeff Salzman. Ken Wilber’s thoughts were from a recording he made. On this page scroll down to section called “The Conversation So Far” and play or download the recording called “What is Integral Activism?”.

And from 2012 a Daily Evolver interview with Cindy Wigglesworth about activism from an Integral perspective, addressing some of the big questions currently resonating throughout the integral community. When is it time to reflect, and when is it time to act? Cindy is busy becoming a digital activist in her own right, and trying to find the crucial leverage points are in the larger cultural conversation to help shift things in more positive and integrated direction.. Although the politics are dated the ideas are still sound.

Below are Eloy’s notes from the March 2017 call with Terry Patten, Diane Hamilton and Jeff Salzman: There’s more to follow as I transcribe the talk:

TP: That’s The paradoxical challenge of our times to both grieve what is out of balance and stand for something true even while we rest in the great perfection and temporary blessings. And that sometimes makes us want to shout from the heart.

TP: The Integral Imperative calls to us to Shout from the Heart! One of the questions we ask is how can we effectively engage” What is truly Integral activism?

KW: You can’t understand something like Trump without the Integral Framework. Without Integral trying to understand is just garbage in / garbage out. Culture wars are between stages of development but most people don’t know that. Once you understand it gives you more of 4 dimensional understanding. You can imagine seeing the 4 quadrants focused on a holon like a gun crosshair sight, then you can see the past and future evolutionary paths going off in the 4 directions. You can’t see any of the AQAL Integral elements with the senses. He talks about how we interwoven connections

JS: Currently in developed world we have a culture that consists of 3 stages of development, the traditional (amber), modernists (orange), post-modernist (green) with a few above (Integralists) and below those stages. We have 3 world views that hate each other. I think Integral is the solution to that. We compete and cooperate. The competition mode is currently the most common.

DH: What I heard Ken say is that a whole lot of us don’t look at the world through the Integral lens. Ken is telling us to remember that we don’t see the world through the same lense Looking through the AQAL lens we are more growth oriented. It’s not just about what we do in the world but how we do it.

nto novelty.
