EMBODIMENT - It's not what you think (tagline credit to Jess Humprey)

We will explore the concept and practices of embodiment. Our bodies and our consciousness are linked throughout our lifetime but we learn to dissassociate from our bodies. Our bodies contain great wisdom about who we are.

We honored to have two embodiment practitioners as guest presenters. Come prepared to move. Dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat.

Founder of InBody Wisdom, Ecstatic Dance San Diego, and Creatrix of Sacred Play, Nancy Parker weaves ancient wisdom and modern science to restore balance in the body, mind, and heart.

From Embodied Success by Ryan Oelke:

• Embodiment is inhabiting our bodies and the full spectrum of our experience with presence, acceptance, and curiosity.
• When we quiet our thinking mind, we pause and cool reactivity, we invigorate our presence with attentive energy, and through that, we get in touch with what’s actually happening in our business and life.
• Embodiment practice counters overthinking, chronic stress, spinning our wheels, anxious reactivity, and being in ‘emergency’ mode.
• Embodiment practice increases our creativity and improves problem solving through uniting our intellect, intuition, and emotional awareness.
• Embodiment practice naturally cultivates joy and resilience in our work, business, and life.
The practice of embodiment includes continually attuning to what is present right now with clear recognition and curious inquiry. Embodiment definitely includes revealing to yourself what you deeply need and deeply want more clearly, not through muscling through to conjure up answers, but to listening to and trusting yourself and life to help guide you. Taking action, having creative resolve, and experimenting are all necessary capacities for success, but it lacks the deep roots to sustain us, build resilience during difficulties and confusing moments, not to mention being able to fully celebrate and feel the joy when we’re crushing it.
Embodiment means not losing track of being at home with yourself and the resources and wisdom within, as it is so easy to do when you are both your offerings and your business. You can always be at home in yourself – experiencing the joy of your success more deeply, and feeling anchored and resilient when the going gets tough, as it inevitably does in life and in business. And when your business and life are blossoming and filled with joy, you’ll be fully present to that. You’ll be able to trust and allow yourself to more deeply experience all of that happiness, without questioning or staying on guard for the next thing. You will be more present, joyful, resilient, and confident.

What is embodiment?
To say it again, a little differently, wherever you go, your body is there with you. When I say ‘body’, I don’t mean simply the physical elements of your body, but I do mean to say all of the space inside the physical definition of your body, the container or vehicle of your body, and everything that is contained in your body, physical and non-physical (emotions, mind, intuition), however you choose to see and understand that.

Every experience you have happens in your body or at least is mirrored or anchored in your body. Your body is the central locale of your lived experience. Even your most confusing and painful experiences are a wealth of immediate, powerful guidance when you stop fighting them for a moment and listen to them. Your body is the holder of all of your experiences, the doorway to them, the kingdom where your experiences abide, and the unadulterated mirror of your life.
