A Misunderstood and Undervalued Type in The Integral Model to Help Resolve Conflict
Join us in January to learn more about the Enneagram as we use our Types to learn more about ourselves and others as we look at how each number deals with conflict. We plan to use the SDI group to practice being more effective in helping others feel less triggered while being willing to see how we get triggered also. Our goal is to notice how we project our “shadows” onto others in the group so that we can experience some growth in the safety of our SDI group.
FIRST: Everyone who participates needs to know their Enneagram number. You can use goconscious.com to take a free brief test and see some videos or find some other online tool. If you are still not clear, John and Sandy will be there 15 minutes before the group meets to help you figure yourself out. The Enneagram has not been verified by Orange research but seems to be intuitively meaningful. Please note that individuals who fall into the more healthy range of their type (from years of spiritual and growth practices) are often hard to read. But we all carry the core of who we are, both in our passions/root sins and in our essence.
NEXT: John and Sandy will briefly present their introduction to and journey through the Enneagram. We will show a brief U Tube video of how to deal with each of the 9 numbers when engaging in conflict. However, our goal during this meeting is to bring this to our SDI group as we help each other navigate the challenging road to 2nd tier.
Most of us are knee deep or perhaps shoulder deep in Green with Integral understanding and inclination. But we often get stuck in “playing nice” in Green and miss out on the beauty of conflict and how it can assist us individually and as a group in evolving to 2nd tier Teal and Turquoise. We also are blind to our earlier stage allergies or addictions.
We have attempted in past meetings to ask ourselves as a group how being Integral really shows up in our lives. Does it enhance our lives, bring us more serenity, and lessen our reactivity to people and situations? Using the Enneagram in conjunction with the stages can bring us to a clearer understanding of ourselves and a view of others that allows them to be who they are. Being Integral means we are able to see the good, true and beautiful in other numbers just like we have come (hopefully) to see this in those earlier on the levels of development.
We are asking you to show up prepared to be honest and vulnerable and hopefully be able to laugh at ourselves as we use the caricature of our numbers to initially engage in role playing. From this, we may be able to notice our triggers and dislike of other numbers or what numbers we ally with. The goal is to see our projections, whether to a number or to behavior reflecting a particular stage that may help us get a glimpse of our shadows that in turn can provide space for growth.
