We’ve found an exciting and flavour-packed Malatang spot in Burwood that we’re dying to share with you all!
If you've never tried Malatang before, get ready—it’s a fun and interactive dining experience that lets you build your own bowl from a buffet of fresh ingredients and then have it cooked in a delicious spicy broth of your preference (or a milder one if you prefer!). Think of it like hotpot meets street food, all in one bowl.
From enoki mushrooms and lotus root to beef slices, tofu skin, bokchoy and fish balls, you’ll be able to pick exactly what you like, and pay by weight. It’s all simmered in your choice of soup base. The chili oils, sauces and garnishes are next-level too.
Whether you're already a Malatang lover or a total newbie, this will be a delicious journey into one of China’s most popular street food dishes.
🥢 Details
Meeting time: 6:30PM in front of the restaurant
Location: Zhang Liang Malatang, 130 Burwood Road, Burwood
We’ll meet just outside the restaurant entrance—look for the hungry group hovering around!
💡 How it works:
You’ll grab a tray, choose your own ingredients, pick a broth, and pay by the weight. Everyone gets their own bowl, but if you want to sample and share a bit with others, that’s totally up to you.
🚆 Transport Notes:
• Public Transport: Burwood is super easy to get to via train and buses.
• Driving: There is some street parking around, best option is to try the side streets. Parking at the nearby Westfield would also be a good & convenient option.
This is a great opportunity to catch up over a unique dinner, try something new, and meet fellow kitchen catchup folk who get just as excited about discovering a new dish as you do!
Looking forward to another great dinner adventure with you all—come hungry! 😄
Cheers,
Natia
