"As the Republic of Korea continues to emerge as a vibrant cultural force throughout the world, Korean food is playing a prominent role in shaping the nation?s public image. The World Korean Food Festival in Washington D.C., preceded by festivals in Japan and China, brings together more than 15 of Korea?s brightest chefs, cuisine scholars, and entrepreneurs for a public demonstration and tasting of a broad spectrum of Korean cuisine: appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, sweets, beverages, and?of course?a variety of kimchi." We're trying to have a Korean Waves cooking event, but this event is better than what we would be able to get at this price (no cost). "More than 30 different dishes will be presented, prepared by professional Korean cuisine experts."

Participants and Presenters:

Kim, Hyunju. Holding chef?s licenses in Korean cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and western cuisine, Kim has received awards in many world-class cooking competitions including the New Zealand Culinary Fare, the World Korean Food Competition 2009, and the World Korean Food Festival 2010.

Lee, Yoonmi. Holding chef?s licenses in Korean Cuisine, Chinese cuisine, western cuisine, and Japanese cuisine, Lee has received awards in competitions including the Well-being Food Expo, Chinese Food Competition, and World Korean Food Festivals for several consecutive years.

Kim, Kangil. Kim has chef?s licenses in Korean Cuisine and western cuisine along with a butcher?s license. He received an award for creative meat preparation as well as in the 2010 World Korean Food Festival.

Jeon, Kyungchul. Jeon currently teaches at Kyunggi University and has 23 years of experiences in hotels and schools. Having won the Gold Prize in the World Cooking Competition for seven consecutive years, Jeon is the leader of the participants of World Korean Food Festival in Washington D.C.

Shin, Jinhyang. As the president of Mirakka, a restaurant specializing in fresh Korean beef, Shin has received awards in five Korean food competitions throughout 2009 and 2010.

Kim, Kwangjong. With 20 years experience as a chef, Kim currently works for Hyundai Green Food. He is the assistant leader of the participants of World Korean Food Festival in Washington D.C.

Jun, Dongchol. Jun currently works as a chef in Byukje-Kalbi restaurant. He is the assistant leader of the participants of World Korean Food Festival in Washington D.C.

Yang, Heewan. As a master of Culinary Art, Yang teaches at Kangwon University while working in the cooking department in Kangwon Land. He has received many awards in world-class competitions and holds licenses in Korean cuisine, western cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and Japanese cuisine.

Kim, Cheolho. Kim is the president of Nagohyang Sea food.

Kim, Soonyi. Kim is the president of Hukbbyri Ginseng.

Kim, Changgum. Kim is the president of Bonhyang restaurant.

Oh, Soonduk. Oh has written many books on ingredients and cooking methods of the Korean rice cake, as well as Chinese cuisine. She has received 10 awards at the Food & Tableware Expo and other competitions. Having studied Food Science and Nutrition, and experienced as a chef at the Hilton and Ramada Renaissance hotels, Dr. Oh is a professor at Seojung College.

Lee, Seohyung. Lee is a professor of Korean cuisine at Kunjang College with 20 years of experience in cooking, including as a planner and manager in the Korean Food Competition New York in 2008 and 2009, He is currently a chief manager of the World Korean Food Festival.

Ko, Youngsook. Having studied Korean traditional diet culture at Sookmyung University, Ko was the president of the judging committee for four cooking competitions. She has licenses in Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and western cuisine along with a teaching license in cooking for children.
