We will start hiking cross country at Badger Gap in the Greenhorn Mountains, through the forest to the base of the old Forest Service fire lookout at Oak Flat. The Forest Service makes this lookout available for rent. We will return to our cars on the forest service road.
Please know your limits when hiking.
• What to bring:
Lunch, water, protective clothing, trekking poles, map, compass, jacket.
• Where we will meet:
Bakersfield: Meet at Shell Station on 178 & Comanche @ 7:30am to arrange carpools to Badger Gap. High clearance vehicles needed for the 17 miles on Rancheria Road. We will leave promptly at 7:40 AM to head to badger gap trail head. We plan to start hiking at 8:30am.
Hikers from Kern River Valley/Ridgecrest: The fastest route to Badger Gap is to drive to Bakersfield and meet with the rest of the group at 7:30am. If anyone wants to carpool from KRV to Bakersfield, please contact me and we can arrange a place and time.
