Details
We'll meet in front of Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave, which "offers a unique, adventurous experience with a vibe of historical mystique. Visitors descend 145 steps through a hand-dug, century-old tunnel from inside a small gift shop to a viewing platform inside the cave. [You can hear] the sounds of the Pacific Ocean echo against the rock walls. It feels like stepping into a hidden world, with a touch of a Prohibition-era secret, leading to a stunning and unique view of the coastline from the inside out." *(Special thanks to https://lajollabythesea.com/place/sunny-jims-sea-cave/* )
Tours are self-guided, last 15 minutes and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We're meeting at 8:30 am so we arrive a half-hour before the Cave Store opens. We will then vote on whether to first take a brisk walk and go inside the Cave Store later. (Admission is $ 13 for adults and $8 for active veterans and seniors.)
Note: Wear closed heel clothes and bring gloves to hold onto the railings.
