About us

Offering basic, free Tai Chi and Qigong sessions through meetup since 2013!
We all want to have less stress, more resilience, better vitality. We need more alternatives on the path to promoting our own individual health and the wellness of our community. Learning Tai Chi can give you practice that you can start at any age and continue to cultivate throughout life! The intention of this group is to give you a place to start, try things out and see if this is a practice for you to continue.
We offer the weekly evening session on Wednesdays at the Southwedge Mission or at Highland Park in the summer. Everyone is also invited to join us after the session for a little socializing.
In addition to the in person sessions we have a morning zoom session every weekday. Each day of the week has a slightly different theme. Check the event descriptions for more detailed information.
Tai Chi is generally considered a safe and effective gentle activity and can be modified so people in virtually any condition can participate. However .....
If you have a health condition, please check with your physician before starting a new physical activity.

Qigong Wednesdays - 5 Animal Frolics - Zoom 8-8:30am

Wu Qin Xi Wednesdays! Every week we do the Wu Qin Xi Qigong forms. This roughly translates to the 5 animal frolics - a popular set of forms that mimic animal movements.
The animal forms are easy to follow along with and form a very complete routine that develops balance, ease of movement and stretching.
Appropriate for all levels and abilities.
This is such a great set of fun movements we do it every week but try to keep it fresh also! Very good for beginners interested in doing Tai Chi and Qigong.

Tai Chi Thursdays - 34 and 24 Forms - Zoom 8-8:30am
·OnlineOnlinePlease note the new earlier time - 8-8:30am EST !
Thursday Tai Chi sessions center on the "standard" 24 position form that is the most popular worldwide. This is a longer form that takes more time to learn with Zoom sessions than the forms we do on Tuesdays. We break the form down into smaller pieces and also go through the entire form during these sessions to accommodate both beginners and those working on the form over a longer period.
More challenging for absolute beginners but very rewarding if you stick with it over time.
Appropriate for beginners looking for a longer term challenge and intermediate practitioners.
