Join us for a fun evening of country dance lessons, led by Preston, one of my favorite instructors. He will guide you through the basics of two-stepping. This event is about:
- learning the basics
- Meeting people in the group, making friends, and finding people to keep practicing with
- HAVING FUN!
The first 45 minutes will be beginner only. Preston the instructor is VERY good about breaking down the basic steps, and then adapting the lesson based on how well the group is picking it up. When learning to country dance, you often learn faster by rotating partners. You do NOT need to show up with a partner for the lesson (most people don't). If you're a couple, you can absolutely just dance with each other if you prefer.
If you're picking up the basics easily, then feel free to keep it rolling for the intermediate! If you're struggling, DON'T get discouraged. If you want, you can come dance with me during the lesson instead of rotating, and I can help you out a bit. If you're really nervous, I will be there at 7:00 sharp (though the lesson typically doesn't start until 7:30. I can walk you through the basic before the lesson even starts (it's honestly just walking in a straight line - quick, quick, slow...slow...repeat).
So don't feel intimidated, quit being a wallflower, and come out and get your feet wet. You'll have a blast and meet some new people!
Also, I STRONGLY encourage everyone to stay after the lesson and keep practicing. In my experience, you learn a lot faster just dancing after the lesson than you do during the lesson. Also just hang around to chat and get to know the other members of the group!
The whole point of this group is to meet people, and make friends to go through the process of learning this hobby together, with people who are the same skill level. So come on out and let's have some fun!!!
