A pleasant walk around mid Wharfedale, starting from Linton and passing over open moorland before crossing the River Wharfe to join the Dales Way to Grassington and the Linton Falls.
Parking is limited in Linton but, in the extreme, there is paid parking about 3/4 mile away at Linton Falls - which we pass on the way back.
From Linton we go through the village of Threshfield before passing over open moorland to the hamlet of Bordley. From here, we cut across to Mastiles Lane which we then follow to Kilnsey. We then work our way up Conistone Dib to join the Dales Way. This pleasant high route takes us down to Grassington where, time permitting, we could stop for some refreshments. From Grassington we then go on to the impressive Linton Falls where the more observant will spot the upstream hydro-electric station. We finish with a short road section back up to Linton (and the Fountaine Inn ?)
This is a moderately strenuous walk of 14 miles with about 2,000 feet of ascent.
We will start walking at 9:45 am. Please arrive in sufficient time to park, change footwear etc.
There is no charge to attend the first three CHA walks, but to attend further walks we request that you join our club for an annual membership of only £6.
