This group is for anyone who finds themselves with these little inner cravings for travel and the mountains. We welcome anyone, especially beginners or recreational hikers, of all ages and fitness levels.
Our aim is to encourage more outdoor travel and experiential learning; to inspire and encourage each other to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy the mountains along with new learning experiences. We wish to encourage a healthy living and fitness, along with appreciating nature as a lifestyle.
Also, we do not wish to be little monsters as travellers. We strive to promote sustainable travel, along with understanding and appreciating local culture. We hope that the experience more than just enjoying yourself and "YOLO".
Therefore, we try to make our trips as affordable and accessible for people.
For this meetup group, feel free to have discussions on trips or any questions on travelling or hiking.
Our trips primarily revolve around having mountains in the region. We do less of Malaysia and more of the other parts of the world to enjoy the different mountain ranges and areas in the world. However, we do some hikes in Malaysia just to build confidence and trust, or also for practical reasons as they usually don't require leave.
Do not worry if you are totally new! We wish to encourage newbies or first-time travellers/hikers/trekkers.
We will try to cater for different trips of varying difficulties. On top of that, each trip will come with advised training and detailed info-kits and briefing, explaining the difficulty and preparation for it!
You can fill up some forms if you wish to be contacted to help arrange trips for you. You may fill up the forms multiple times if you are interested in various trips, or just drop me a WA or email. These forms allow us to help group and gather people together to *make trips happen!* (Also helps for planning leave)

Gunung Ledang, or commonly known as Mount Ophir (1,276m) is the highest mountain in Johor and almost the most climbed mountain there.
This is a good step-up hike for those who are looking to progress to tougher hikes after Gunung Datuk or are training or preparing for Kinabalu/Nepal etc.
Who is this for?
It serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as training for other treks, like Kinabalu, or Nepal. How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?
It is twice as long as Gunung Datuk. The trek is around 4-5h up and 3-4h down, making it a total of 9h. The total elevation is around 1,000m up and down. It can be quite tiring on your legs.
It is generally tropical forest trail, with some rope portions, ladders and rock faces. It can be quite fun to go through the different terrain with the need to use your hands at some points.
However, if you have done Gunung Datuk before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise. The tough part is only the duration.
This is good for people who have some level of fitness, if not it will be fun for those who are first time in Malaysia!
What happens if I am slow?
There is a 1 guide to 7 hikers ratio. There is also a cut-off timing to the summit, if you fail to make it you will have to turn back! So far everyone I've brought made it =). Do note if you descent past a certain time, there is a penalty.
How many pax for the trip to happen?
Minimum 12 pax to start the trip!
Once confirmed, a Whatsapp group will be set up.

Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.netSome additional questions:
- How long is the ride to Mount Ophir
A: It takes only around 3-4h from Singapore
- The journey to Ophir only takes 3 hours, why do we set off so early?
A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost/taxi to MRT station. This also means there is a lack of sleep, so try to sleep in the vehicle! Bring a travel pillow!
- Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park?
A: Yes there are but basic. Expect using a hose/bucket. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Ophir. No smelly people in the vehicle!
- What do I have to look out for?
A: There are mosquitoes and leeches sometimes, depends on the weather.
- Where is dinner?
We would have dinner in Tangkak at a cheap and nice chinese restaurant, if there are dietary concerns there are other options around the area also.

Gunung Datuk is a good challenging (depends on who you ask) starting hike and introduction to trekking for beginners or first-timers who wish to know what hiking really entails! It is also one of the more fun short-day hikes for the adventurous!
Mount Datuk (885m) is an extremely popular 1-day beginner hike located in Malaysia, about an hour away from Malacca.
The hike takes an average of 2.5h up and 2.5h down. It is not too long, yet challenging and strenuous enough for a half-day hike. There are some very steep parts and the trek requires using your hands. Additionally, there are minor rope sections and ladders near the summit. This trek can be challenging for beginners so be prepared for a fun adventurous experience.
At the summit, there is a nice view of the surroundings and we can take a break on the rocks and enjoy the wind before descending! After that, the plan is to hunt for some good food in Malacca! If we end earlier, there will be more time for free and easy along Jonker street.
Of course within the group, there will be people of various speeds. Those faster can have more time at the summit and wash up first. Please be patient for the slower ones!
The intention of the trip is to introduce newbies who haven't tried trekking before so please be patient and welcoming! It is important to be open-minded and sporting enough to embrace challenges! There are mosquitoes and leeches abound =) Do note it is NOT a walk in the park
To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp group will be set up.

- Do I get to see the sunrise at the top?
A: Maybe. Depends on how comfortable everyone is with walking with headlights.
- I am totally new to hiking, what should I bring/wear? Is there training?
A: I will set up a WhatsApp group for questions and provide some info-kit to prepare. Most important is being open =)
- How fit do I have to be? I am afraid of being the slowest/burden to the group.
A: You would need basic endurance and be open-minded, embrace the challenge of using your hands and going up and down rocks or steep terrain. Many people have done Datuk, of various fitness, the group will move at a slower pace to help build that confidence.
- What happens if it rains!
A: If it is a light drizzle, we would continue. Usually we'll continue, or wait until the heavy rain stops. If it rains, it'll be slippery so go slow!

[Hiking Series]M'sia-Gunung Berembun Jelebu(1014m) + WW2 Plane Crash Site
Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station, 71 Woodlands Avenue 3, Singapore 739044, SG*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Gunung Berembun Jelebu (1,014m) is an interesting hike with the chance of visiting a WWII plane crash site, while hiking through a dense rainforest with waterfalls and streams, and fallen trees. There are many "Gunung Berembun" but this is the one located in Negiri Sembilan! We will be doing the classic route via Kampung Pantai.
It is considered a full day hike, slightly shorter than Ophir. This is usually used as a training hike, and exposure to different elements and exploring a more raw trail, rather than a hike for the view itself.
Who is this for?
- It is most suitable for those who just want an interesting full-day hike out similar to Ophir, but less curated than the usual ones.
- It serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as general training for hikes.
- Wish to experience a more raw rainforest trail with less crowds, and different elements
- Wish to do a full-day hike nearby without travelling so far
- Wish to see a WWII plane crash site and wreckage
- Not for those who are hunting for a beautiful viewpoint at the summit
How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?
Duration: ~5h up, and 4h down. You can u-turn at the summit instead of going to the crash site.
Distance: ~7km one way, total of 14km.It is generally tropical forest trail, with some river, rope portions.
However, if you have done other Malaysia hikes before like Gunung Datuk/Lambak/Ophir before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise, except it is more raw. With the presence of streams, please do expect leeches!
Estimated Itinerary: (Saturday)

4.30 am : Breakfast
6:30 am : Reach Kampung Pantai Baru Trailhead. Start hike. Walk/4WD in for 2km.

[Hiking Series] M'sia-Gunung Nuang (1,493m) via Pangsun: Intense Hike!
Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station, 71 Woodlands Avenue 3, Singapore 739044, SG*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Gunung Nuang (1,493m) is part of the Titiwangsa mountains bordering Selangor and Pahang, and is known as one of the highest mountain in Selangor (2nd highest actually). It is one of the more challenging hikes from KL and is done as a proper full day hike, a step-up from the usual Ophirs, or training hike for harder Malaysia hikes (Gunung Tahan, Liang, G7 etc) or further hikes in Nepal etc. There are 2 trails, and we are doing the one from Pangsun, which is the harder trail with ~5 river crossings! We aim to start early and end early, so we can reach back Singapore by Sat night and sleep on our own beds and be home for Sunday!
Who is this for?
=> People who wish to/can challenge themselves
=> People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and wish to challenge themselves further
=> Wish to hike close to 12h and deal with undulating trails + rivers
=> Training for tough hikes (high altitude hikes etc)
=> Generally suited for more experienced hikers who know they can last at least 12h hikingDo note that we might start early and end late, so we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group!
Hike Details
The total distance is ~20km and total elevation gain is ~1520m.The hike is around 8-12 in total, depending on your speed. This is longer than Ophir Asahan hike. It can and will be extremely tiring on your mind, body and legs.It is generally tropical forest trail, with some steep inclines, rope portions, ladders, river crossings. Be prepared for the path to be narrow, muddy and steep! Do note that there will be lots of ups and downs so be mentally prepared for it.
This is good for people who have some level of fitness and hiking experience. As this can be quite a challenging route, the group pace will be quite fast and we'll push at a certain speed.
There is also a cut-off timings which we'll enforce more strictly. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to all be back down by 6pm ideally!
How many pax for the trip to happen?
Minimum 12 pax to start the trip!
