This group is for anyone who finds themselves with these little inner cravings for travel and the mountains. We welcome anyone, especially beginners or recreational hikers, of all ages and fitness levels.
Our aim is to encourage more outdoor travel and experiential learning; to inspire and encourage each other to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy the mountains along with new learning experiences. We wish to encourage a healthy living and fitness, along with appreciating nature as a lifestyle.
Also, we do not wish to be little monsters as travellers. We strive to promote sustainable travel, along with understanding and appreciating local culture. We hope that the experience more than just enjoying yourself and "YOLO".
Therefore, we try to make our trips as affordable and accessible for people.
For this meetup group, feel free to have discussions on trips or any questions on travelling or hiking.
Our trips primarily revolve around having mountains in the region. We do less of Malaysia and more of the other parts of the world to enjoy the different mountain ranges and areas in the world. However, we do some hikes in Malaysia just to build confidence and trust, or also for practical reasons as they usually don't require leave.
Do not worry if you are totally new! We wish to encourage newbies or first-time travellers/hikers/trekkers.
We will try to cater for different trips of varying difficulties. On top of that, each trip will come with advised training and detailed info-kits and briefing, explaining the difficulty and preparation for it!
You can fill up some forms if you wish to be contacted to help arrange trips for you. You may fill up the forms multiple times if you are interested in various trips, or just drop me a WA or email. These forms allow us to help group and gather people together to *make trips happen!* (Also helps for planning leave)

See all- [Hiking Series] M'sia - Bukit Kutu (1,053m): Fun day hike with great views!Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station , Singapore 739044
*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! Permits are hard to obtain so we'll have a cutoff date, so first come first serve!*
Bukit Kutu (1,053m) is one an extremely popular hike just further north (1.5h) of Kuala Lumpur at Kuala Kubu Bharu, famous for waterfalls and getaways for the city hustlers of KL. Bukit Kutu is also known as Treacher Hill and was a former hill station during colonial times.
The summit offers great views of the surrounding region and is very similar to Gunung Datuk, where the summit is on top of boulders. The hike itself is not technically very difficult and is slightly longer than Datuk but quite similar, do expect your shoes to be wet due to the river/stream crossings!
We're looking to do a good day hike and aim to go back to Singapore by Saturday night.
Hike Description
There are some river/stream crossings at the start. The total duration is ~6h of hiking and ~12km in total, with around 800m in elevation gain. Do note that there are no toilets or wash up area at the start of the trail/end of the trail! So please clean up before getting on the bus and we will head to the R&R.We are aiming to do this in 1 day and be back in SG by Sat night, so this will be a fuss-free hike only itinerary! The focus is on hiking at a good pace!
Who is this for?
=> People who wish to hike similar to Gunung Datuk/Angsi but not too challenging
=> Wish to do a decent full day hike
=> Wish to enjoy somewhat decent weather while hiking
=> Looking for a fuss free hike only itinerary, go for a solid hike in Malaysia and back to SG to sleepIt serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking especially if you have done Gunung Datuk and is aiming for something similar. Most do it as training for other treks, like Kinabalu, or Nepal.
Do note that we are looking to start early and descend by around 4-5pm, so we will have cut-off time. Prepare your own meals also! How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?
The trek is around 6h, but can be 4h or less if you are faster. This is slightly longer than Datuk, and easier than Ophir, and the terrain is similar to most Malaysia hikes.
It is generally tropical forest trail, with river/stream crossings, steep parts and ladders near the summit.Minimum pax
Minimum 12 to start the trip!
Once confirmed, a Whatsapp group will be set up and info-kit sent out.Estimated Itinerary: *Timings to be confirmed*

Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.netSome additional questions:
- How long is the ride to Bukit Kutu
A: It can take 7-9h from Singapore
- Why are we not staying overnight?
A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost. Also, we wish to be able to spend Sunday with family/friends/sleeping in Singapore, so we decided to spend Sat night travelling back than Sunday instead.
- Are there shower or toilet facilities at the trail?
A: There isn't, so this means bring your own wipes and toilets are all "natural". Don't worry we will stop by toilets before and after the hike.
- What do I have to look out for?
A: Trees, Logs, leeches sometimes, depends on the weather. Also, make sure to have firm footing and go steadily during the river crossings!
- Where are the meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner?)
We might stop by breakfast if there is enough time, if not it'll be at the R&R. Lunch is packed by yourself/on the go during the hike. Dinner might be a quick one at the R&R when we wash up, but if everyone is fast we can have a good dinner!
- {Leisure Hike} M'sia - Bukit Senaling (394m): Sunrise Hike + Sea of Clouds + R&RMarsiling (NS8) MRT Station , Singapore 739044
*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Join us for a leisure hike, where the idea is to include hiking in our lifestyle. For the Leisure Hike series, we always look at a hike that isn't too intense, just to get our limbs moving, have fresh air, and hopefully good company too, and combine with an R&R activity. We'll do an easy hike for a sunrise view and enjoying being out nature before heading for good food in Malacca and leave for some time for R&R
So bring your friends, make new friends and hang out together! There is nothing like enjoying Nature and good food!
Bukit Senaling (394m) is a famous beginner hill in Malaysia which everyone goes for the "sea of clouds". It is a leisure hike up and down, so it will just be something to warm up the body and have a view! We'll try to pack some breakfast along the way (bring your own containers), or bring your own food, floor mats, or coffee/tumblers/cups. We'll start hiking early, so we can have breakfast at the summit while waiting for sunrise =)
It takes around an hour + to reach the summit, and the same amount down. The idea here is to take your time to enjoy the morning walk, the fresh air and the sunrise. It'll be nice to sip a hot drink while looking at sunrise, breathe in fresh air and feel connected to Nature. After which, we'll descent and head to either Malacca/JB where its free and easy and we can all have some massage and good food!
If interested, do whatsapp +65 8884 2635. A whatsapp group will be set up for further information and coordination.
A minimum of 12 pax is needed for this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is made.

Gunung Datuk is a good challenging (depends on who you ask) starting hike and introduction to trekking for beginners or first-timers who wish to know what hiking really entails! It is also one of the more fun short-day hikes for the adventurous!
Mount Datuk (885m) is an extremely popular 1-day beginner hike located in Malaysia, about an hour away from Malacca.
The hike takes an average of 2.5h up and 2.5h down. It is not too long, yet challenging and strenuous enough for a half-day hike. There are some very steep parts and the trek requires using your hands. Additionally, there are minor rope sections and ladders near the summit. This trek can be challenging for beginners so be prepared for a fun adventurous experience.
At the summit, there is a nice view of the surroundings and we can take a break on the rocks and enjoy the wind before descending! After that, the plan is to hunt for some good food in Malacca! If we end earlier, there will be more time for free and easy along Jonker street.
Of course within the group, there will be people of various speeds. Those faster can have more time at the summit and wash up first. Please be patient for the slower ones!
The intention of the trip is to introduce newbies who haven't tried trekking before so please be patient and welcoming! It is important to be open-minded and sporting enough to embrace challenges! There are mosquitoes and leeches abound =) Do note it is NOT a walk in the park
To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp group will be set up.

Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.netSome additional questions:
- How long is the ride to Mount Datuk
A: It takes only around 3-4h from Singapore - Datuk/Malacca.
- The journey to Datuk only takes 3 hours, why do we set off so early?
A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost/taxi to MRT station. This also means there is a lack of sleep, so try to sleep in the vehicle! Bring a travel pillow!
- Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park?
A: Very basic shower and toilet facilities. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Datuk. No smelly people in the vehicle!
- Do I get to see the sunrise at the top?
A: Maybe. Depends on how comfortable everyone is with walking with headlights.
- I am totally new to hiking, what should I bring/wear? Is there training?
A: I will set up a WhatsApp group for questions and provide some info-kit to prepare. Most important is being open =)
- How fit do I have to be? I am afraid of being the slowest/burden to the group.
A: You would need basic endurance and be open-minded, embrace the challenge of using your hands and going up and down rocks or steep terrain. Many people have done Datuk, of various fitness, the group will move at a slower pace to help build that confidence.
- What happens if it rains!
A: If it is a light drizzle, we would continue. Usually we'll continue, or wait until the heavy rain stops. If it rains, it'll be slippery so go slow!
- [Hiking Series]M'sia-Gunung Liang East+West(1,933m):Tough & Thrilling Twin Hike!Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station , Singapore 739044
*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Gunung Liang is known as a twin peak hike, where it combines Gunung Liang West (1,902m) and East (1,933). It is one of the closest and highest mountain to KL, and is ranked as the 35/36th highest mountain in Malaysia. Although not as famous as Gunung Nuang or Gunung Rajah, which are similar hikes, it is higher in altitude than both of them. This is one of the more challenging hikes from KL with a wide variety of terrain, with a combination of steep forest slopes, muddy trails, river crossings, along with the beautiful mossy forest and more temperate climate to make it both a tough as well as thrilling full day hike.
Do note that this is a 2D1N trip with a night stay in KL, and the hike can take >12h depending on how fast everyone hikes and the weather condition. We'll try to start as early as possible to give us the highest chance of completion. Do also note there are no facilities at the trailhead, so we'll have to do a light cleanup/change of clothes in the bus before heading to KL for a proper shower!
Who is this for?
=> People who wish to/can challenge/test themselves (I would say to the limits)
=> People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and wish to challenge themselves even further
=> Wish to hike close to 12h and deal with undulating trails
=> Training for tough hikes (high altitude hikes etc)
=> Generally suited for more experienced hikers who know they can last at least 12h hiking
==> Want something higher than the other Malaysia hikes, and less popular than Nuang/Rajah.Do note that we might start and descend at night, so we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group!
Hike Details
The total distance is ~19km and total elevation gain is ~2270m.The hike is around 12-18h in total, depending on your speed. This is almost 2x as long as Ophir Asahan hike. It can and will be extremely tiring on your mind, body and legs.It is generally tropical forest trail. There are multiple stream crossings, followed by a river crossing which can get knee deep if it rains. There will also be lots of climbs and steep slopes with ropes and some scrambling over tree roots due to the narrow paths. Do be mentally prepared for the steep ascents!
This is good for people who have some level of fitness and hiking experience. As this can be quite a challenging route, the group pace will be quite fast and we'll push at a certain speed.
There is also a cut-off timings which we'll enforce more strictly. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to all be back down by 8pm.
How many pax for the trip to happen?
Minimum 12 pax to start the trip!
A Whatsapp group will be set up and information sent through there.Estimated Itinerary:
