This group is for anyone who finds themselves with these little inner cravings for travel and the mountains. We welcome anyone, especially beginners or recreational hikers, of all ages and fitness levels.
Our aim is to encourage more outdoor travel and experiential learning; to inspire and encourage each other to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy the mountains along with new learning experiences. We wish to encourage a healthy living and fitness, along with appreciating nature as a lifestyle.
Also, we do not wish to be little monsters as travellers. We strive to promote sustainable travel, along with understanding and appreciating local culture. We hope that the experience more than just enjoying yourself and "YOLO".
Therefore, we try to make our trips as affordable and accessible for people.
For this meetup group, feel free to have discussions on trips or any questions on travelling or hiking.
Our trips primarily revolve around having mountains in the region. We do less of Malaysia and more of the other parts of the world to enjoy the different mountain ranges and areas in the world. However, we do some hikes in Malaysia just to build confidence and trust, or also for practical reasons as they usually don't require leave.
Do not worry if you are totally new! We wish to encourage newbies or first-time travellers/hikers/trekkers.
We will try to cater for different trips of varying difficulties. On top of that, each trip will come with advised training and detailed info-kits and briefing, explaining the difficulty and preparation for it!
You can fill up some forms if you wish to be contacted to help arrange trips for you. You may fill up the forms multiple times if you are interested in various trips, or just drop me a WA or email. These forms allow us to help group and gather people together to *make trips happen!* (Also helps for planning leave)

[Hiking Series] M'sia - Trans Naning: Challenging Full Day Hike with 7 'Peaks'!
Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station, 71 Woodlands Avenue 3, Singapore 739044, SG*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Welcome to our first Trans Naning! This is similar profile to the other challenging/hardcore hikes series (e.g. CBR, QJM, Rajah etc), although I would say its slightly easier/shorter, or the entry level to the hardcore hike series.
Trans Naning is a pretty famous trail in the area as Gunung Datuk, for those who want an intense and punishing full day hike in Negiri Sembilan! The good thing about Trans Naning compared to other challenging hikes in Malaysia is that due to its distance from Singapore, we can complete this itinerary within a day and do not need to stay overnight in Malaysia. Do note that this is a pure hiking trip and there will be no leisure/R&R activities.
Trans Naning isn't a route that has high elevation, with the highest being Gunung Rembau (884m), however it can be quite a punishing route with the steep inclines and switchbacks. You'll descend down about 700m before ascending straight back up. There will be river crossings, general forest trail similar to Gunung Datuk, just more raw, narrower paths. There are 7 different 'peaks' which acts as checkpoints,
1. Gunung Gunung Selatan (733m)
2. Tampin Utara (728m)
3. Peak 705 (705m)
4. Peak 701 (701m)
5. Gununh Gagak (807m)
6. Gunung Rembau (884m)
7. Gunung Datuk (855m)We'll be starting the route from Tampin side, and end off at Datuk. This is so that we have some shower facilities. The hike usually takes an average of at least 10-12h, so please be mentally prepared for it!
Who is this for?
=> People who wish to/can challenge/test themselves (I would say to the limits)
=> People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and wish to challenge themselves even further
=> Wish to hike close to 12h and deal with undulating trails
=> Training for tough hikes (long distance, high altitude hikes etc)
=> Generally suited for more experienced hikers who know they can last at least 12h hiking
==> Want a tough hike but don't wish to stay overnight in Malaysia
==> Just want to hike and have no other 'R&R' activitiesDo note that we will start early and might descend at night, so please bring headlights, and we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group!
Hike Details
The total distance is ~16km and total elevation gain is ~1800m.The hike is around 10-14h in total, depending on your speed. This is almost 1.5x as long as Ophir Asahan hike. It can and will be extremely tiring on your mind, body and legs. This is good for people who have some level of fitness and hiking experience. As this can be quite a challenging route, the group pace will be quite fast and we'll push at a certain speed.
There is also a cut-off timings which we'll enforce more strictly. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to all be back down by 8pm.

[Hiking Series] M'sia - Ophir (1,276m) via Asahan: Challenging full day hike!
Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station, 71 Woodlands Avenue 3, Singapore 739044, SG*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! We have limited permits and must be applied in advance. Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Gunung Ledang, or commonly known as Mount Ophir (1,276m) is the highest mountain in Johor and almost the most climbed mountain there.
This is a good step-up hike for those who are looking to progress to tougher hikes after Gunung Datuk or are training or preparing for Kinabalu/Nepal etc.
There are 2 main trails for Mount Ophir, the more popular and accessible "Sagil", and the "Asahan Trail". For this trip, we are looking to do the Asahan Trail, which is harder than the Sagil hike. There is also a cut-off timing to the summit/CP which we'll enforce more strictly compared to Sagil.
Who is this for?
=> People who wish to challenge themselves
=> Have done Ophir before but never done the Asahan Trail
=> Wish to do a tough full day hikeIt serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as training for other treks, like Kinabalu, or Nepal. Do note that we are looking to descend by around 6pm, so we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group!
How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?
It is harder and longer than the Sagil hike. The trek is around 5+h up and 3-4h down, making it a total of 9h to 10h, depending on your speed. The total elevation is ~1300m up and down. It can and will be extremely tiring on your legs. The distance is can be a total of 14-16km in total!
It is generally tropical forest trail, with some rope portions, ladders and rock faces. It can be quite fun to go through the different terrain with the need to use your hands at some points.
However, if you have done Gunung Datuk before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise. The tough part is only the duration.
This is good for people who have some level of fitness and hiking experience. As this can be quite a challenging route, the group pace will be quite fast and we'll push at a certain speed.
There is a 1 guide to 7 hikers ratio. There is also a cut-off timing to the summit/CP which we'll enforce more strictly compared to Sagil. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to descend latest by 6pm.

Email: info@littlemonsterstravel.netSome additional questions:
- How long is the ride to Mount Ophir
A: It takes only around 3-4h from Singapore
- The journey to Ophir only takes 3 hours, why do we set off so early?
A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost/taxi to MRT station. This also means there is a lack of sleep, so try to sleep in the vehicle! Bring a travel pillow!
- Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park?
A: Yes there are but basic. Expect using a hose/bucket. Also we'll most likely drop by a R&R. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Ophir. No smelly people in the vehicle!
- What do I have to look out for?
A: There are mosquitoes and leeches sometimes, depends on the weather.
- Where is dinner?
We would have dinner in Tangkak at a cheap and nice chinese restaurant, if there are dietary concerns there are other options around the area also.

[Hiking Series] M'sia-Gunung Bekok (953m): Forest + 4 Rivers Training Hike!

*Registration has to be done 2 weeks in advance so please confirm early!*
Come join us for our first Gunung Bekok (953m) hike of LMT! This is an excellent (some say challenging) training day-hike in the Endau-Rompin region region of Johor, relatively near Kluang in which is around 2.5 hours from Singapore. Gunung Bekok is the 3rd highest mountain in Johor after Ophir and Belumut, which makes sense given its a similar day-hike to them. It is often used as a training hike to keep up in fitness, or train you mentally for Malaysia forest and leeches. It is also good if you are bored of the other full-day hikes, or wish to prepare for other hikes other tougher hikes like G7 mountains in Malaysia, or Kinabalu. Due to its location, this makes it a solid day hike, still have a good dinner and be back in SG in 1 day.
Starting from Sungai Bantang Recreational Forest, there are various ‘checkpoints’ on the way to the peak which includes 4 small river crossings. The trail is primarily a forest trail which gets steeper, with some roped sections here and there. It serves as good training as the route is relatively straight forward, with lots of ascents and some descents. This is not a hike known of its views, so be prepared to see forests + lots of CP checkpoint signs! This also means you can end off with a splash in one of the pools/rivers!
Who is this for?
=> People who just wish to have a solid day hike
=> People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and are bored of them
=> Training for tough hikes (long distance, high altitude hikes etc)
=> Just want to hike and have no other 'R&R' activities
=> Love jungle + water!Hike Details
The total distance is ~14km
The hike is around 7-9h in total, depending on your speed. This is good for people who have some level of fitness and hiking experience. Most fit hikers can reach Bekok Summit in less than 4h, but average hikes take around 4h one way.
It is slightly longer than Lambak, Datuk or Angsi, and more similar to Ophir or Belumut. However, that also depends on the terrain conditions. Do note that there are leeches on this trail, and rain can make it slipper and muddy!
Technically okay for first-timers, as long as you have some level of fitness, although it might come as a shock, if not it might be fun and challenging for those who are first time in Malaysia!

{Leisure Hike} M'sia - Bukit Senaling (394m): Sunrise Hike + Sea of Clouds + R&R
Marsiling (NS8) MRT Station, 71 Woodlands Avenue 3, Singapore 739044, SG*If interested, please whatsapp wa.me/+6588842635 or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! *
Join us for a leisure hike, where the idea is to include hiking in our lifestyle. For the Leisure Hike series, we always look at a hike that isn't too intense, just to get our limbs moving, have fresh air, and hopefully good company too, and combine with an R&R activity. We'll do an easy hike for a sunrise view and enjoying being out nature before heading for good food in Malacca and leave for some time for R&R
So bring your friends, make new friends and hang out together! There is nothing like enjoying Nature and good food!
Bukit Senaling (394m) is a famous beginner hill in Malaysia which everyone goes for the "sea of clouds". It is a leisure hike up and down, so it will just be something to warm up the body and have a view! We'll try to pack some breakfast along the way (bring your own containers), or bring your own food, floor mats, or coffee/tumblers/cups. We'll start hiking early, so we can have breakfast at the summit while waiting for sunrise =)
It takes around an hour + to reach the summit, and the same amount down. The idea here is to take your time to enjoy the morning walk, the fresh air and the sunrise. It'll be nice to sip a hot drink while looking at sunrise, breathe in fresh air and feel connected to Nature. After which, we'll descent and head to either Malacca where its free and easy and we can all have some massage and good food!
If interested, do whatsapp +65 8884 2635. A whatsapp group will be set up for further information and coordination.
A minimum of 12 pax is needed for this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is made.

Some additional questions:- Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park?
A: Usually just toilet, we'll try to find a shower nearby.
- I am totally new to hiking, what should I bring/wear? Is there training?
A: Training is by yourself. Its a leisure hike, pack light! Just need headlights.
- What happens if it rains!
A: We'll adjust the itinerary accordingly. Unless its a thunderstorm, we'll still hike.
