What we’re about
Meet other local fans of jazz, blues, and world music while enjoying live performances by top-notch musicians.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to an amazing live music scene, with an assortment of venues that provide an intimate and affordable way to experience music as it's meant to be: spontaneous, inventive, and alive.
There's so much music happening in the Bay Area, there is something available every weekend for every taste and budget.
So join us, and use this Meetup group to connect with other music fans. We're mainly about listening to live jazz, but we also post blues shows, as well as tango, flamenco, world music, and cross-genre. In addition, we occasionally post theater events and films that have a music-related plotline or other "hook."
If you know about a show you'd like to see listed, feel free to suggest the event to Meetup organizers for hosting, or you can post the show on the "Discussions" page and invite your fellow Meetup members to attend with you.
Hope to see you at an upcoming show!

See all- Good Carma __ dance to Jazz & BluesBig Rock Deli, San Rafael, CA
The music, food and country setting at this roadside deli is the attraction. We saw James Moseley Jazz & Blues in Feb. This time it's Good Carma Jazz & Blues, no cover, good dance music, under a covered patio in the redwoods. It's Big Rock Deli in North San Rafael on Lucas Valley Road. If you haven't been there, it looks rural but really about 10-15 minutes west from Fwy 101.
Press release:
Good Carma finds itself at the intersection of jazz, folk, rock, funk and salsa. With backgrounds ranging from classically trained to self taught, from Paris, France to Los Angeles, CA, their diverse talents and musical tastes create the foundation of their creative style of jazz. Their philosophy is that good music starts with good people and their inspiration is derived from each member's unique perspective on life. Good Carma's goal is to deliver an infectious mix of feel-good jazz for all musical tastes. Whether it is Sting or Sondheim, Norah Jones or John Coltrane, Beck or Kenny Barron, Good Karma brings you an eclectic blend of good jazz, reincarnated. It's free! Starts at 3:00 but to get a table we should be there by 2:30. Good time to have a late lunch. The deli (see Yelp review) has above average deli food and you must purchase some to sit at the table. There'll be bbq. There's a dedicated stage, dance floor, sound system and a covered patio. If it's storming, the event will be cancelled. If so, we'll announce by 10a.

Meetup is a social organization not an event calendar. In general, our members are avid jazz fans, middle age and up, enjoy socializing with food and drink, and we show-up on time. Please have good intentions when you rsvp; 'No-Shows' are no good. If you need a ride, ask in Comments with details. If your plans have changed please select Edit RSVP at bottom of page to take yourself off the Attendee List. - Black Cat Zydeco in San AnselmoCourtyard Plaza in front of San Anselmo Town Hall, San Anselmo, CA
A number of towns in Marin have their summer series of local bands playing in the parks for the community. The bands are uniformly good but once in a while a gem appears that is regionally known. The Black Cat Zydeco is scheduled to play 6/20 Friday at 6-9p in the Courtyard Plaza. Bring your camp/beach chair or blanket but this meetup is one of our group dancing series -- you won't be sitting much! Get there early so we can be a group. I'll get there early to claim a patch of lawn but I cannot claim a larger spot if you're not there. You can bring food and wine or buy from the local vendors. That's all you need to start your weekend with a blast!
