Thank you for your co-operation with this :) Greedy Khao Presents: A-harn Chao Wang (Thai Palace Food) Super excited to have these guys cook at 10 Cable St! In recent years, London's 'nu-Thai' movement has introduced the capital to some of Thailand's lesser-known regional cuisines. In particular, the punchy dishes of the North Eastern (Issarn) region have created a buzz among London's finest foodies and critics, who have ravenously welcomed the departure from the type of Thai food that has dominated UK since the 1990's. The food itself is often not very traditional, and in many cases has been adapted to appeal to the UK's renowned love of flavours that lie on the... blander end of the spectrum. So, for this supper club, we want to demonstrate a selection of dishes - both familiar and obscure - that showcase true A-harn Chao Wang culinary traditions and values, using Greedy Khao's plant-based approach. In contrast to the often-spicy and heavily-salted notes of Issarn cuisine, the defining characteristic of A-harn Chao Wang is that it is not dominated by spicy, salty, sweet, sour or umami. Instead, it relies on the delicate interplay of all these fundamental human taste categories to create a spread of flavours and textures that Thai's refer to as 'glom-glom' - perfectly balanced, and wickedly addictive. Greedy Khao invite you to enjoy a four-course feast in celebration of A-harn Chao Wang dining. We've removed the traditional dress, the traditional music, the traditionally carved veg, and all these other distractions to bring the focus firmly back where it belongs - on the food itself. -------------------------------------------------------------- Appetiser Chud-Aaharn-Wang-Boran - A Royal platter of crispy fried snacks with Thai rose dip and ajaad relish. - Pra-tud-lom - Golden Firecracker - Dtung-ngern - Money Bag - Kang-kao-pueak - Taro Bat Moo-sarong - Pig in a Basket Main One Khnom-Jeen Sao Nahm - Rice vermicelli with coconut broth, fresh pineapples, toasted coconut flakes, shredded ginger, sliced garlic, lightly pickled bird’s eye chilli in vegan fish sauce, lime wedge Main Two Khao-mun-som-tum - A traditional Royal sum rub (meal set) where each component is carefully curated in order to bring different - but complementary - flavour-profiles and textures to the spread. - Khao-mun-dok-anchan - Butterfly pea infused rice cooked in coconut cream, topped with crispy shallots - Som-tum-thai - A version of the classic spicy papaya salad that is only served as part of khao-mun-som-tum - Gaeng-phed-'gai' - Decadent red curry with tender chik'n, apple aubergines, pea aubergines, kaffir limes leaves and sweet basil - 'Moo'-whan-foi - Shredded and candied mushroom Dessert Khnom-Tago - A traditional - and extremely moreish - Thai dessert made with sweet pandan and rich coconut cream ………………………………………………….. • Walking with Vegans : Amersham to Little Missenden
Join me for a relaxing walk from Amersham to Little Missenden, beside the River Misbourne! (((Please Note; Wrap up warm (temp' will be about 11 degrees c or lower), & wear sensible walking shoes. Bring water and plenty of vegan snacks or pick up snacks from the Tesco at Amersham; in the old town there are Vegan options too))) Plan of the day ~> As its an hour long tube journey from Kings Cross, I've decided I'll travel ahead & wherever you live along or near the Metropolitan line, join the train, & I'll be waiting outside Amersham Station from 12pm to 12.15pm with a Vegan sign. Then we'll pop into the local Tesco, so latecomers find us there, then we'll set off! 12.30ish; From the Tesco, we turn right, head down the road, under the bridge on the left & take the small foot path on the right, that takes us through to a woodland ; on the otherside of this wood is a wonderful view of Amersham old town, amidst fields & trees; a sweeping walk down the hill takes us into the old town High Street, where we can pick up vegan friendly treats in The Green Grocer Cafe, before continuing along the High Street, that turns into a busy main road, eventually turning left at a round about & heading down to find a footpath to take us by the River Misbourne, that includes views of a manor house & a lake.... The walk from Amersham to Little Missenden is just over an hour long Little Missenden is a quaint little village to explore, & enjoy a drink in a local pub, then, after our rest, we'll set off via field footpaths & woodland views, back to Amersham, as the sunsets.... If you fancy staying till late, we can have drinks & dinner in Amersham ; Happy Cow says The Swan pub in the High Street has a Vegan menu, & there's a Pizza Express too & some other options. There are regular trains back to central London till late :) See you there! :)

  • Vegan Cheese & Sparkling Wine Evening
THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT- TICKETS ARE £32.93- Please do not say yes to this Meetup until you have bought your ticket, as the event may sell out. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vegan-cheese-wine-party-vol7-tickets-50682147668 Ladies and Gents! Round 7 is HERE!! Please join us for a night of Artisan vegan Cheeses and vegan wines! Cheeses + Trimmings All the cheeses are hand picked and chosen by Moko of 10 Cable St. She tries all the artisan cheeses out there and only serves the best! On average you’ll get to try between 6-8 different cheeses. She will also be making the famous 'Smoked Salmon' to add to the board as well. You will get enough cheese and trimmings to fill you up so no need to eat dinner before hand! You will not regret coming to this event! There may be a chance to buy extra cheeses on the night but that will be confirmed closer to date : ) Wine Our good friend Tom is back again to show us great vegan wines he’s found to try with the cheeses. I don’t know about you, but when I go to my local shops I never know which wines are vegan and are actually good. So, for this tasting, Tom will take some of the stress out of finding affordable, vegan-friendly wine without crossing town. You will be welcomed with a glass of bubbly followed by 4 generous tasters. Our wine expert Tom will talk you through the choices while you nibble on amazing cheeses and trimmings. *There will be other drinks available for you to purchase through the night. Tom the wine guy There are three things you need to know about Tom. 1: He loves wine... maybe a little too much. 2: Although he will probably wear a tie, he isn’t a wine snob. 3: As a vegan, he thinks that putting animal bits into wine – or anything else for that matter – is weird. Over the last decade his wine adventures have taken him from selling wines at Oddbins in Edinburgh to chasing grape skins out of a winepress with a powerhose in Kent, and from talking his way past armed guards at a vineyard in Ethiopia to marketing the world’s most expensive wines in London. Hope to see you there!! ( We now offer a discount for over 65's! Email us to take up on this offer! : ) Please get in touch with any other questions : ) As usual, if you book separately with your friends please let me know so I can organise for you to sit together : ) And don't be afraid to come alone! Wiltons Music Hall Simmons bar What some of our guests said about our last event : ) ' I went to the second Vegan wine and cheese event organised at 10 Cable Street. The place and table presentation were lovely. Some of the cheeses amazing and I particularly loved the description of the British wines that Tom made. Such a great event! I won't miss the next one and I'm planning to invite some friends as well! Thank you, Moko for being such a lovely host!' -Bee 'Wine and Cheese event was fabulous! So much food! Learned loads about wines. Even bought some wine and cheese for my own soirée in a few weeks! (Hope it lasts till then!) Moko is such a fabulous host and is focused on vegan and eco-events, which is excellent! Looking forward to checking out other events at this venue!' -Meredith https://www.tencablestreet.com/events/2017/8/19/plant-based-cheese-and-wine-party I look forward to meeting you :)

  • See You Last Tuesday (C.U.L.T.)
Join the CULT! Well, everyone seems to think veganism is a cult anyway! 😉 But joking aside, we have excellent news. From March 2015, every Tuesday is a vegan day (http://www.tibits.ch/en/food-drink/vegan.html) at Tibits (http://www.tibits.ch/en/restaurants.html#tibits-london-heddon-street)! And having been thinking that we needed a relaxed, midweek social event in central London, this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. We have booked the entire basement on the last Tuesday of every month. So come on down, meet other vegans, and enjoy vegan food and drink. (You're welcome to arrive any time between our start and end times.) If you haven't been before, Tibits is a great "pay-by-weight" buffet-style restaurant just off Regent Street. And on their vegan days, everything (or at least almost everything) in the buffet is vegan. So don't forget to save room for their sticky toffee pudding! ACCESSIBILITY Tibits is a wheelchair-accessible venue with a lift to the basement (where we'll be) and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. However, the lift is a little hidden, so please ask staff. (A member of staff will usually greet customers as they enter.)

  • London Vegan Drinks
Since September 2014, London has had a new, all vegan bar / restaurant / venue - Kabaret at Karamel. Run by vegans, and with an all vegan menu and drinks list (including Pitfields on tap!), this is now the home of London Vegan Drinks. And although it's a little out of central London, it's less than 30 minutes from Oxford Circus by public transport. What's more, they have a late license until the early hours at weekends. So feel free to arrive any time between our start and end times. And being a Saturday, you (hopefully!) won't have to worry about work in the morning. If you've been to London Vegan Drinks before, you'll already know that this event, founded by blogger FatGayVegan in 2011, has become London's biggest monthly vegan social event (having already outgrown three previous venues). And if you haven't been before, it's about time you did! London Vegan Drinks typically sees up to 100 attendees from London Vegan Meetup - plus other vegans and the vegan-friendly from London and beyond. Invite your friends who aren't on Meetup here: https://facebook.com/events/111370996302815/ ACCESSIBILITY Karamel is a wheelchair-accessible venue, with a folding ramp to help customers over the doorsill. (There's a second entrance just past the main entrance that may be more accessible, but which isn't always open.) The venue also has a wheelchair-accessible toilet (towards the front of the building, behind the bar.)
