Cinco de Mayo Potluck Hike in Burbank, Level: Moderate

Come join us for a fun Cinco de Mayo potluck hike in Burbank’s Verdugo Mountains. We will hike up Stough Canyon trail which is roughly 4 miles round trip with a gradual elevation gain of approximately 900 feet. The route is out and back (not a loop). At the top we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican themed ***POTLUCK *** (other food and drinks are OK, too) and enjoy a nice sunset, music and views of the valley probably for 1- 1 1/2h.
The pace hiking UP will be moderate+, approximately 20 minutes per mile. If you know the way up, you can adjust your pace to your fitness level. Otherwise, we look forward to hiking up together as a group.
LEVEL: Moderate- up hill gradual climb on fire roads, no scrambling
LENGTH: Approximately 4 miles round trip out and back (not a loop). Elevation gain is roughly 900ft.
SPEED: Approximately 20 minutes per mile. We will take a quick pause at trail intersections/forks. If you don't know the way up, please keep up with the group as there is no sweep. Bring your phone for navigation just in case you want to leave early.
BRING: Potluck food and beverages to share (bring needed serving wear and your own eating/drinking utensils), Mexican theme is encouraged, water, shoes with good grip/tread, flashlight, A JACKET IS A MUST, exercise outfit, a blanket to sit on or a light camping chair (in case there is no room at the tables)
MEETUP TIME: We meet at 6pm for introductions and take off sharply at 6:05pm.
MEETUP LOCATION: 1500 East Walnut Ave, Burbank, CA 91501. Outside the restaurant on the corner by the flagpole (a picture will be posted)
RESTROOMS: None on the trail. Arrive earlier to use the restrooms located on the ground level of the restaurant.
PARKING: Free street parking along Walnut Avenue

By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing all risks, for any material losses and for getting lost. Each member agrees to make their guests aware of this, also, and releases the host from all liability.`
