What we’re about
We are an organization of atheists, agnostics, skeptics and other freethinkers based in Charleston, South Carolina.
Please note that not all of us have accounts on Meetup.com. From the RSVPs here, it may look as if only a handful of people are planning to attend, but our regular monthly meetings usually draw between 20 and 50 people. The book group meetings usually draw 10 to 15.

The 25th anniversary screenings of Dogma, titled "Dogma: Resurrected! A 25th Anniversary Celebration", will take place on June 5, 2025, across over 1,500 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, and the SHL Movie Club is going! These special events feature a newly remastered 4K version of the film, accompanied by exclusive bonus content available only in theaters. The extended runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes includes this additional event cinema content, which may encompass behind-the-scenes footage, cast interviews, or other special features curated for this anniversary celebration.
Dogma is Kevin Smith’s bold and irreverent comedy that blends satire, theology, and road-trip chaos in a uniquely unforgettable way. Featuring an all-star cast including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Alan Rickman, Linda Fiorentino, Chris Rock, and Salma Hayek, Dogma follows two fallen angels trying to exploit a loophole to reenter Heaven—an act that would unravel existence itself. With equal parts heart, humor, and heresy, this cult classic challenges faith and fandom alike, and remains as provocative and hilarious today as it was in 1999.
We are going to the 7 pm screening at the Terrace Theater.
You can use the link below to purchase tickets. Tickets are open seating so arrive early to try to get a good one. After the film, anyone who wants will walk over to Maybank Public House for drinks.
