Join us at The Hive, South Pasadena, 1118 Mission Street, South Pasadena, 91030, Tuesday, September 29, 6:30 - 8:30 pm for our \*new\* monthly craft night! Scissors, paper, glue sticks, pencils, and markers are available, but guests are encouraged to bring their own crafts and supplies. Craft Lab is uninstructed and all types of creative exploration is encouraged. The gathering takes place in the studio, seating is first come first serve. Free. Open to all skill levels. Ages 18+. Scrapbooking/Papercrafting

• What we'll do ...A place for you to digitally or traditionally scrapbook or any paper crafting, or any crafting you would like to do in the space provided for you. You are not required to stay the whole time, come for a few hours. It's a great time to give those WIP's some attention or finish! • What to bring You need to bring your own supplies. No additional supplies will be provided. • Important to know Due to limited space, please RSVP. You will be provided with a chair and a 4X3 table space. Bring your own Hotspot if you need to use the internet. Voluntary potluck. This monthly event is free of charge.

Beach Day - Art and games (Ages 18-24)!

Hi everyone! 💕 Welcome to Let’s Be Friends! We’re so excited to have you here! We'll be at Playa Del Rey Beach and just follow the balloons 🎈🎈🎈 This group is for ages 18–24 and is all about meeting new people, making genuine friendships, and having fun together. 🌸 For our beach meetup, we’ll be hanging out, doing some art at the beach, playing games, snacking, and getting to know each other! 🎨🌊 Feel free to bring any beach/outdoor games, art supplies, snacks, blankets, or anything else you think would be fun to share. Come as you are—no pressure if you don’t know anyone yet. That’s the whole point! 🫶 We can’t wait to meet everyone and hopefully make this the first of many fun get-togethers!

Off the HOOK Crochet Club and Crafts Too! is an inviting community for crochet enthusiasts and craft lovers alike. We meet the 1st Saturday of each month at various locations! Whether you're a seasoned crocheter or a curious beginner, this club offers a welcoming space to explore the art of crochet and a variety of other crafts. Members can enjoy learning new techniques, sharing patterns, and showcasing their completed projects in a supportive environment. The club also hosts workshops, craft fairs, and social gatherings, fostering a sense of camaraderie and creativity. Joining Off the HOOK means becoming part of a vibrant community where you can unwind, create, and connect with fellow crafters who share your passion. **October Meetup: We will meet again at the Downey Masonic Lodge on the 3rd Floor. FIBRE-CRAFT 101

To attend and for exact location, register [HERE](https://www.schoolofself-reliance.com/event/lunchtime-fibre-craft/) Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. FIBRE-CRAFT 101: The Art of Turning Plant Fibres into Bags, Baskets, Nets, String, Sandals. We’ve had some requests for a BASKETRY Workshop. This class will include Basketry basics, though this class will not be only basketry. The art of working fibre is nearly a lost art. You’ll learn to recognize some of the common plants which yield a useful fibre, and learn how to work them into strings, and baskets, and nets, and sandals, and more. In the old days of the Southwest, the lives of the people were literally tied together with fibre: for shelter, for clothing (hats, belts, shoes), fishing nets, bags, weaponry, fire-making, brushes, looms for fabric. In the past, most people had a more intimate connection to plant fibres. There are so many practical applications, though today someone makes everything we use. So it’s become a lost art. You will learn how to process a few plant fibres and how to make them into a usable product! We will do a short walk (if time) and learn about some of the plants that are useful for weaving, and making cordage. You will then learn by making some of the useful products. Along the way, you’ll also see many of the other useful and edible plants of the area. NOTE: PLEASE RSVP SINCE WE NEED TO PLAN TO BRING SUFFICIENT SUPPLIES! $65 (Seniors and students $45)

MIDDAY GOURD WORKSHOP

To attend and for exact location, Register [HERE](https://www.schoolofself-reliance.com/event/midday-gourd-workshop/) Thursday, October 1, Noon to 2P LEARN THE ART OF CREATING A CUP, BOWL, PLATE, OR SCOOP FROM THE HARD-SHELLED ORNAMENTAL GOURD In this mid-day class, you will take a dried gourd and learn all the steps to turning it into a beautiful and functional plate, or bowl, or canteen, or even a scoop. We’ll bring the tools you need, but if you have saws, files or rasps, bring them. It’s not that hard to make a good functional gourd. We used to each make one before a week at Dirttime, and then if we cut it just right, we’d have a dish, and a bowl. Bushcraft skills? Survival Skill? Whatever you call it, it’s a great skill, and a great opportunity to meet with like-minded people. $45 ($30 students/seniors) Please register to attend and for location. Hahamonga Watershed County Park is our field office, the class may be in a different location.

Rebel Sewing Group

A monthly meetup open to the public focusing on reducing overconsumption and waste by helping the community mend clothing, teaching generalized sewing, and offering guidance through your fabric based projects. A member of CRASH Space with sewing knowledge will be in attendance to help with small mending and alteration tasks or to facilitate your journey into the world of textiles.
