From Street Film Co-op
4.5

Street Film Co-op welcomes any member to start a project. Here's info on how you can start a project or seek interest in your potential project. Please note: this is a standing meetup with info and it is not an actual invite to meet. The meetup site doesn't allow for a permanent post to be up but requires a deadline to be given. Types of projects Short films, web series, extremely low-budget features, a proof of concept short film for your feature, etc. There are no limitations on the type or length of project. Bear in mind that projects should be low to no budget. Each project will be posted for 2 months and interested people will contact you directly. Read below for more details and how-to’s. Contact the group's organizer Ian Nichol if you wish to launch a project. Create your own project description in a word doc (you will email to Ian) or email, based on past projects. Be engaging, tell a little about yourself, get people excited in your idea. Include your email and repeat it again but spelling it so you are putting “at” instead of @. The meetup site can sometimes hide email addresses in meetup posts. Keep the text re: the meetup's meeting date is just a deadline and not an actual meeting date. Email your posting with a fun photo of you (has to be landscape shape for the meetup template). Email all this to the meet-up's 2 amazing organizers: Erin and Andy. They will let you know if they have any questions before posting it. Please consider crediting the Organizer, Ian Nichol, as Executive Producer or Associate Producer in your credits and on imdb. Co-op members are eager to participate and will reply to your post.

🎬 Let’s Go to the Movies (and Actually Talk… or Not) Whether you're a film nerd, popcorn enthusiast, or just looking for a chill night out with interesting people — this one's for you. We’re heading out to see a movie together, then grabbing food or drinks after. If the film's great (or terrible), we’ll probably talk about it forever. If it’s just okay, we’ll talk about it for 10 minutes and move on to everything else — books, dating apps, weird dreams, how Toronto keeps getting more expensive, etc. The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and not too serious. No film degree needed. No icebreakers. No pressure to “perform.” Just come enjoy the film, connect with some thoughtful people, and see where the night goes Click here to watch trailer! 🎞️ **Movie Title + Trailer:** [[Click here to watch trailer!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxBof_p3_es)] 📖 **📖 Plot Summary:** Centers on Becket Redfellow (Powell), who has been cast aside by his phenomenally wealthy family and will go to any lengths necessary to ensure his inheritance. *** ### 🗓️ **Event Details** 📍 **Meetup Time:** 7:00 PM....I will only wait 5mins 🎬 **Movie Start Time:** 7:10pm ⏱️ **Runtime:** 1hour and 45mins 📌 **Meetup Spot:**I will be standing at the top of the escalator wearing my Moose Hat. 🎟️ **Cost:** * **$11.50** for *CineClub* members * **$16.00** regular admission 👉 You are responsible for buying your own ticket. **🪑 Reserved Seating:** You must buy your ticket *before* signing up. TFS Presents an Italian Double Feature!

TFS Presents an Italian Double Feature!

Sun, Feb 22, 6:30 PM
From Toronto Classic Films Meetup Group
4.8

On Sunday, February 22nd, at the Paradise Theatre in Toronto, the Toronto Film Society is showing a double feature of Italian films: two films for one low price! First up is Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life) (1962). A defining masterpiece of Italian *commedia all’italiana*, Dino Risi’s *Il Sorpasso* follows the unlikely pairing of shy law student Roberto and charismatic drifter Bruno as they tear through the sun-drenched roads of Ferragosto in Bruno’s roaring Lancia Aurelia. What begins as a spontaneous joyride becomes a sharp, unsettling look at a country racing toward modernity, at once funny, free-spirited, and deeply poignant. Dino Risi blends social satire with emotional depth, powered by memorable performances from Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant. Shown in the original Italian with English subtitles. Next on screen is Federico Fellini's Orchestra Rehearsal (Prova d’orchestra) (1978). Part mockumentary and part political allegory, Orchestra Rehearsal transforms a single rehearsal room into a chaotic microcosm of Italian society. A documentary crew observes an orchestra whose players bicker, complain, organize, rebel, and eventually confront forces beyond their control. The comedy gradually sharpens into something darker and more surreal, echoing the turbulence of 1970s Italy. With Nino Rota’s music driving the rhythm of the film, this compact work becomes a provocative meditation on authority, art, and the fragile balance required to create harmony. Shown in the original Italian with English subtitles. Please note that this is a paid event. You can purchase tickets online or at the door. Tickets: https://paradiseonbloor.com/purchase/381893/
