Impromptu Sketching Hangout - The Well (Food Court)

There is a cluster of small bean bag chairs in that area too. **How to get there?** From Union station, 1) it's an 18 minute west walking on Front Street OR 2) take the 'street car' / bus #510 and get off at Front Street. Relaxing with Art, Chill Convos and Making New Friends

*Unwind, get creative, and connect with cool people.* Looking for a calm space to do some art, have meaningful (or silly) convos, and meet new friends in the city? This is your spot. I’ll be bringing **colouring pages and markers** for anyone who just wants to show up and relax. You're also totally welcome to bring whatever creative activity helps *you* unwind — think **sketchpads, mini canvases and paint, journals, clay sculpting, wire bending, model building kits, and collage supplies**. We’ll hang out, make art, and enjoy chill conversations in a cozy, no-pressure environment. 🎵 Free Community Concert at Roy Thomson Hall

Spend the day at one of Toronto’s most iconic concert halls and enjoy a performance by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, completely free! The TSO is hosting an Open House at Roy Thomson Hall. We'll kick off our season with **Alliance Francaise**--with a wonderful concert on a Saturday night!! We've been very fortunate to see **Duo Perse-Inca** 2X before. Once in Toronto. Once in Montreal. Sounds from Iran, mixed with sounds from Peru. On **Saturday September 26th,** join us for an **Open House and Free Concert at The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO**)**.** Traditionally, we have only gone for the concert, but we will be doing both this year and members can choose any part to join. **This year the Open House will not only have Live musicians/ guests playing, we will also be able to do a Self-guided Tour of the Hall, Compose a short piece and hear it performed on the spot, Try out instruments and More.** We will then go for Lunch across the street, and return later to join the **Rush Line for the Concert**. Whichever way you plan on saying it, Art Deco buildings tell a rich story of optimism and positivity during one of the most darkest decades in history, the great depression of the 1930s! This walking tour explores our built environment of our downtown core. Toronto Stock Exchange built in 1937, along with the Royal York Hotel and the Canada Permanent Trust Company are prime examples. But others line Spadina Avenue during the challenging years of the depression, but also during the tensions which were bubbling in the Garment Industry. Art Deco buildings were centre stage! These buildings tell a story that goes beyond style into the heart of the Toronto story itself! Built at the height of the roaring 1920s and 1930s, the bubble was about to burst however, and the depression was just settling in. But a new style would set the tone, and it was called Art Deco! Toronto built some of its most enduring buildings, and left a built legacy of Art Deco during the 1930s which should be treasured and protected. Losing any of these treasures would surly be a loss to the community. They tell a rich and inviting story about the growth of Canada, and Toronto! This walking tour is for all walking levels.
