Saturday Night BIG Games!

Welcome to Saturday Night BIG Games with the Croydon Board Gamers. This is a trial event, which we may make more regular in the future if it's a success. Please note, like our other events, there is no fee payable to CBG to attend, but you will need to pay the Ludoquist £8 for a gaming session. The evening is a bit different to our usual sessions and is designed for longer, larger games planned in advance! We won't be organising games on the day, instead you'll need to arrange a game. If you haven't done this, there won't be space for you on the evening! You can do this by joining the chat on the event and advertising what game you want to play (if you are willing to teach) or speaking to others to agree a game. If there is an expectation that players will have read rules in advance, please note this. Best practice for complex games, is for all players to have read the rules and for there to be a quick recap teach before starting, however some players may offer a full teach. It's ok to agree a game on another forum (such as the CBG Discord https://discord.gg/9qBsMfMvP), but if you do please repost on the event chat what you are playing and who you are playing with. We have up to 6 hours to play (from 6pm to midnight), and you don't need to fill all this time with your game recommendation - but this is obviously a great opportunity to play big, complex games at the Ludo. Campaign games, GMT, 18XX, Twilight Imperium, John Company, Cthulu Wars or even a mini Euro-game tournament could be a good fit! This is a self-led session, and is still suitable for beginners. If you are newer to CBG or board games in general, you can reach out to the hosts in advance to talk about particulars.

Frostgrave! - Campaign Games

*IV: Though your sword arm aches, the deed is done - the hordes of undead choking the streets of Lower Frostgrave and threatening your base have been dispersed. The real work now begins.* *Where better to seek arcane knowledge than a hall of learning? Would-be sorcerors once travelled from all over the world to Felstad's University District and, in a way, you will now be the newest generation of students. Time to go back to campus!* The snows are beginning to recede, revealing the shattered ruins of **Frostgrave** — a once-great city of wizard-kings, buried for centuries beneath ice and legend. Now rival sorcerers return, leading warbands into the frozen streets in search of lost spells, ancient artefacts, and forgotten power. This series is **a beginner-friendly Frostgrave Campaign running through this spring**. New joiners are more than welcome! Players will begin with a **Level 0 wizard and a 400gc warband**, venturing into the ruins to gather treasure, gain experience, and grow in power as the campaign unfolds. Most games during the campaign will be played as **multiplayer (3-4 player free-for-all) matches**, creating plenty of opportunities for **XP, gold, and some secret campaign bonuses**. Expect spellcasting, treasure hunting, wandering monsters, and plenty of wizard duels among the ruins. **New players are very welcome.** If you’ve never played Frostgrave before, this event is the perfect place to start. Spare warbands and guidance will be available for anyone trying the game for the first time. ### Not signed up? We are excited to welcome you to our Social Tabletop and Party games. 👾 You can also find us on Meetups. On this occasion we hope to bring you a thrilling deduction game of Blood On The Clocktower. Blood on the Clocktower is a 5–20 player Hidden identity game (similar to Traitors, Mafia or Werewolf) where a good team tries to identify a the evil team before they eliminate the whole village. High player interaction, with unique character roles, and a Storyteller to guide the game. Our regulars always bring a wide selection, also *you are welcome to bring your own games*. We have a beautiful location in the garden of The Old Bell. We will be in the back. I'll make sure not to miss you. If you fancy playing games, cooling off,🧉 good conversation 🍷and new friends to🍵 share plenty of laughs, we'd be thrilled to have you along!

Come and play board games! We play all types of games on a Wednesday night, ranging from social deduction and lighter games to heavy euros and complex strategy titles. Beginners are very welcome, we'd love to see you! We'll always welcome you on the night and make sure we get you into a game, and we have plenty of players on hand happy to teach the rules to different games - so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with.
