**RSVP via Meetup is mandatory to attend the event, due to limited capacity.** Talk & Play is a free event that provides the opportunity to game enthusiasts, players and makers to meet in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. Everybody's welcome, regardless of their background and knowledge level: if you've got any interest in games, we'll make sure you have a good time! This is NOT an event only aimed at developers. The event series is funded by [Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg](https://www.medienboard.de/) and sponsored by [Happy Broccoli](https://www.happybroccoligames.com/), the Berlin indie game studio behind the Duck Detective series. A huge thank you to both for their support! • • • • • **HOW IT WORKS** The event is made of 2 parts: * TALK: Game-related presentations + announcements from the community * PLAY: All participants are welcome to exhibit projects they've made • • • • • **AGENDA** * **18:30** Doors open, project showcase starts * **19:30 to 20:30** Talks & community announcements * **22:00** Event ends • • • • • **THE TALK PART (PRESENTATIONS)** **Sebastian Möring: Precarious Pixels. Artistic Computer Game Photographs as Media of Care** Many artistic computer game photographs address the presence and absence of care. I would like to show in this talk that they themselves become describable as media of care. The notion of care offers a possibility to view the multitude of artistic in-game photographic works through the lens of one theme and thereby bring them into a coherent context. *Sebastian Möring is a professor of game design at Macromedia University and a media and culture scholar with a PhD in game studies focusing on game aesthetics and philosophy, in-game photography, and green game studies.* [sebastianmoering.com](https://sebastianmoering.com/) // [Macromedia University](https://www.macromedia-fachhochschule.de/de/menschen/sebastian-moering/) After the talk(s) there will be a section dedicated to short announcements from the community, get in touch to reserve a spot: info@berlingamescene.com — same goes if your company is hiring or wants to announce something and you'd like to get a sponsored slot! • • • • • **THE PLAY PART (SHOWCASE)** These are the projects that will be shown during the evening: * **[A permanent echo](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3727200/a_permanent_echo/)**[ ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3727200/a_permanent_echo/)by Three More Years * **[AFLOME](https://team-blimmm.itch.io/aflome)** by Team BLiMMM * **[Catch That Bus](https://thephantomdriver.itch.io/catch-that-bus-prototype)** by Nael Bachmaann * **[Che Casino](https://chef-andre.itch.io/che-casino)** by Turboschmuser * **[Echoes: Berlin](https://www.instagram.com/echoes__berlin/)** by Stijn Verstraete * **[GØRKJES - finger food fighting](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3614580/GRKJES__finger_food_fighting/)** by Basuramor / MoFX * **[Haunted Cleaner](https://headkino.cargo.site/games-haunted-cleaner-1)** by HeadKino Games * **[Hunting the Hunter](https://greenwavegames.webflow.io/)** by Green Wave Games * **[Incrementoad](https://vennnot.itch.io/)** by Vibe & Sync * **[Jumpless](https://ooleks111.itch.io/thereisnojump)** by Team Lobster * **[Realm Clash - GO!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOsTD1LGRZ8)** by PhantoPaw * **[Saber Surfers](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/morphcat-games/triple-jump-a-platformer-multi-cartridge-for-the-nes)** by Morphcat Games * **[Saloon Tycoon](https://schleuder.games/)** by Schleuder Games * **[Sound Memory](https://github.com/lislis/sound-memory)** by lislis * **[Super Head Ball](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1579000/)** by Seth van Heijster * **[Swimpossible!](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3819490/Swimpossible/)** by Arcane Cabinet * **[Topic Kaleidoscopic](https://2026.award.amaze-berlin.de/games/2026/topic-kaleidoscopic)** by Anna Jonudottir * **[Tulip Season](https://store.steampowered.com/app/4067890/Tulip_Season/)** by Tatiana Kartashova * **[Untitled Car Twinstick Shooter Roguelike](http://iinacho.itch.io/)** by Nacho * **[Winnie-the-Pooh: Black Honey](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3687480/WinniethePooh_Black_Honey/)** by J6 Games * **[With a HEART and a GUN \[...\]](https://wiswis.itch.io/heartgunshoot)** by Wis • • • • • **ADDITIONAL INFO** Since restarting the event in 2023 we have asked attendees to wear a face mask. This requirement feels incredibly anachronistic these days so at the end of 2025 we decided to drop the requirement. That being said, **we ask everyone showing any signs of illness to be considerate and refrain from attending the event**. FFP2 masks will continue to be available at the door and we support anyone who feels like wearing one to protect themselves and others 💜 Are you attending the event for the first time, or are you coming on your own? The Talk & Play Ambassadors will be there to assist and answers any questions you have. Our Safe Space Policy http://berlingamescene.com/safe-space-policy/ encourages the behaviour at Talk & Play. We request that everyone who is affiliated with and participates to the event honours it. Our event is documented by Julian Dasgupta https://www.flickr.com/photos/12601747@N00/albums — for those who don’t want to be appear in any pictures, we're going to distribute stickers at the door to wear and signal this. Alcoholic drinks will not be sold or allowed to be consumed during the event. UE is a partially accessible venue. Feel free to contact us about your access requirements. Let’s Play CATAN - Play, Socialize & Fun

Let’s Play CATAN - Play, Socialize & Fun

Sun, Mar 1, 11:00 AM
From Backgammon Berlin
4.9

Join our **CATAN** Meetup to play, socialize, and enjoy this classic board game. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. Expect fun, friendly games, plenty of laughter, and the chance to make new friends. This is a relaxed, casual meetup: **no hardcore competition**, just friendly rivalry. 👉 **Please RSVP only if you plan to attend.** *** **How to Play (Quick Guide):** * **Setup:** Build the island with hex tiles, place number tokens, roads, settlements, and give each player starting resources. * **Turn order:** On your turn, roll two dice to produce resources, then trade and build. * **Resource production:** Players gain resources (wood, brick, sheep, wheat, ore) from tiles next to their settlements/cities when the tile’s number is rolled. * **Robber:** If a 7 is rolled, players with too many cards discard half; move the robber to block a tile and steal a card. *NOTE: Friendly robber rule: We play with the friendly robber rule, which means that the robber cannot be placed on a player with less than 3 points.* * **Trading:** Trade resources with other players or with the bank (usually 4:1, better with ports). * **Building:** Spend resources to build roads, settlements, cities, or buy development cards. * **Victory points:** Earn points from settlements, cities, development cards, Longest Road, and Largest Army. * **Winning:** The first player to reach 10 victory points on their turn wins. * 2-Hours-Max: If no one reaches 10 points by the end of the second hour, the player with the most points wins. This keeps our game capped at **two hours**. ⏰️ *** **Our Game Set-Up & Attendance Policy:** 1. We will have two CATAN sets available for up to six players each, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. 2. Since each game takes a considerable amount of time, arriving after a game has already started may make it difficult to place you at a table. 3. In such cases, you may need to place your first two settlements on the remaining available parts of the map—if space allows. 4. Please make sure to update your RSVP in advance. Failure to do so may cause unnecessary delays for everyone at the start. 5. Not showing up without notice will result in being blacklisted for at least one future meetup. ***
