We take on the three highest points in Surrey: **Box Hill, Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill**, following ancient sandy trails and woodland ridges across the **Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty**. Surrey is the most wooded county in England, and this route showcases its very best trails. Starting from **Holmwood**, our route climbs first to **Leith Hill** (294m), the highest point in the South East of England. Here the summit is crowned by the 18th-century gothic **Leith Hill Tower**, offering some of the most far-reaching views of any of our hikes ā south to the sea and the South Downs, and north as far as central London landmarks on a clear day. From there, we continue along sandy trails and woodland ridges to **Holmbury Hill** (261m), where the remains of an Iron Age fort overlook the forested Weald below. Our final peak is the iconic **Box Hill** (224m), renowned for its chalk slopes, sweeping views over the North Downs, and challenging ascents that make it a classic hiking destination close to London. The trail also takes us through the **Denbies Wine Estate**, the largest vineyard in England, before completing our circuit. Due to the length and intensity of the route, we usually do not have time for an end-of-hike pub stop ā though if timing allows, we may fit a brief one in. **Toughness (Please Read):** This is a **very tough, long, and hilly hike** with over 700m of total ascent ā comparable to climbing "Mount" Snowdon. Expect steep sections, some loose ground, and a short section where you need to use your hands it's so steep. The **pace will average 4.2ā4.6 km/h** and **the hike will not be slowed down or cut short.** It is **not suitable for beginners or intermediate hikers**. Only experienced and fit walkers should join. If a participant is unable to keep pace or complete the hike, there are places they can arrange a taxi to leave the hike. If you have any doubts about your ability, we recommend choosing one of our less demanding hikes instead. š§ **Guide:** ⢠Leader: [GRAHAM](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) ⢠Contact (hike day only): 07796 098487 š½ļø **Food:** ⢠Bring a packed lunch and hike snacks, it's a long hike ⢠Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) š**What to Bring** ⢠Hiking boots/shoes ⢠Water (2 litres minimum) ⢠Packed lunch ⢠Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) ⢠Hat and gloves if cold ⢠Train tickets are arranged ā just meet us at the meeting point ā ļø **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ā **Want to Know More?** ⢠[New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers āwhat to expectā) ⢠[About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) ⢠[FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) š² **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) š£ [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) š [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) šø [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) š **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) Ā© Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

Indoor Climbing at the Westway
Tue, Apr 21, 6:00 PMThe London Mountaineering Club's weekly club night at Westway takes place every Tuesday. There will be many more of us at the wall than listed on this event. To find us, look for people wearing an LMC T-shirt. This is a friendly meetup for competent climbers (at all levels of aspiration) to find people to climb with. If you have not climbed at Westway before, you will need to pass Westway's safety test before you can climb unsupervised. If you are unsure whether the centre will allow you to climb unsupervised please message the event organiser on Meetup in advance. We may be able to arrange supervision for you to climb without passing the test but this depends on club members being available to supervise and places will be limited. The London Mountaineering Club does not charge for this event but you will need to pay the entry fee to Westway and for any gear hired. Details of the Westway climbing wall are available on the [Everyone Active website](https://www.everyoneactive.com/centre/westway-sports-fitness-centre/climbing/) including [prices](https://www.everyoneactive.com/centre/westway-sports-fitness-centre/?activitySearch=casual%20climb).
