Social Bouldering Session at BlocHaus Port Melbourne
Sun, Sep 20, 5:15 AMJoin me for a relaxed afternoon of bouldering at BlocHaus Port Melbourne. Bouldering is climbing without ropes or harnesses — short problems, thick mats underneath, and plenty of chances to laugh at yourself between attempts. It's one of the easiest ways I know to meet people, because you naturally end up chatting while you rest between climbs. We'll meet at BlocHaus reception at 3:15pm, say hello, sort out entry and shoe hire, then warm up together before getting on the wall. From there it's a couple of hours of climbing at whatever pace suits you, with a cool-down at the end and a wrap-up by 5:00pm. Absolutely no experience needed — beginners are very welcome, and there are easy problems to start on. This is not a competition or a training session; it's a social climb. Please note that a Meetup RSVP is not a ticket. Everyone pays their own entry and shoe hire directly at the gym on the day. **Who this is for** * Complete beginners who've never touched a climbing wall * Anyone returning to climbing after a break * Experienced boulderers who fancy a social session * Solo attendees — very welcome, most people come on their own and that's completely normal * Reasonable general fitness helps, but there's no minimum standard **Links** * Meetup start point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/39gz2CkAmiicRNR76 * BlocHaus Melbourne: https://mlb.blochaus.com.au/ * Pricing: https://mlb.blochaus.com.au/pricing/ **Timeline** * 3:15pm – Meet at BlocHaus reception and say hello * 3:30pm – Short warm-up / pre-workout * 3:45pm – Start bouldering * 4:45pm – Cool down / post-workout * 5:00pm – Meetup ends **Tickets / cost** * Everyone pays for their own day pass at reception. BlocHaus currently lists an adult day pass at $26, concession at $24, and shoe hire at $7 per visit — check their pricing page for the latest. * If you already have a BlocHaus membership or a multi-visit pass, just bring that. * Climbing shoes are required on the wall, so unless you own a pair you'll need to hire them. * BlocHaus asks first-time visitors to create a profile and fill out their waiver — doing it online beforehand will save you time at the desk. **Transport** * Port Melbourne is reachable by tram and there's street parking in the area, though it can be busy on a Sunday. Allow a few extra minutes either way. **Bring** * Comfortable, stretchy clothes you can move in * Socks (handy for hire shoes) * Water bottle * A small snack if you get hungry * Climbing shoes and chalk if you own them **Expect** * Difficulty: All levels — problems range from very easy to genuinely hard * Pace: Relaxed, lots of resting and chatting between climbs * Vibe: Friendly and low-pressure, zero judgement * Group style: Casual and social — climb as much or as little as you like **Important notes** * Please climb within your own ability, follow all BlocHaus rules, and listen to staff instructions. You're joining at your own risk and you're responsible for your own safety on the day. * Bouldering involves falling onto mats. Learn how to fall and land safely, and don't push past what feels comfortable. * Check the landing zone is clear before you start a climb, and don't sit or stand under someone who's on the wall. * This is a casual social meetup arranged so we can climb together — it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by BlocHaus. Entry is your own arrangement with them. * Entry is subject to BlocHaus's own availability, rules and opening hours on the day. * If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear for everyone.

Indoor Rock Climbing (Urban Climb Blackburn ) - First-time to Advanced
Mon, Sep 21, 8:00 AM**Urban Climb Blackburn** Never climbed before? No worries at all! You're very welcome here! Just complete a quick safety induction when you arrive and the staff will walk you through everything you need to know to climb safely indoors. It's easy, friendly, and won't take long. The venue has plenty to enjoy, including a bouldering cave, speed wall, sauna facilities, and sparkling water to keep you going. This group is primarily focused on rope climbing, top roping and lead climbing, but if you'd prefer to stick to bouldering while you find your feet, that's absolutely fine too! Many of our members have their lead pass and gear, but there's no pressure at all. **Finding us:** If you arrive on time, look for us gathered around the couches in the bouldering area. We're a friendly bunch, so just come and say hi! Running a little late? No stress, just let the staff up the front know you're with the Climb Meetup group and they'll make an announcement. Someone will come and find you and introduce you around. A few of our regulars also wear a black shirt with the old logo, so keep an eye out for those. **A note on numbers:** The meetup runs every Monday and many regular members come along independently without RSVPing through the group, so the crowd is often bigger than it looks on the attendee list! If you're ever unsure whether people will be there or worried it might be a tiny group, feel free to drop the organisers a message beforehand and we'll put your mind at ease. **Fees:** Entry is paid directly to Urban Climb. You can find current pricing at [urbanclimb.com.au/pricing](https://urbanclimb.com.au/pricing/). If you hold a climbing membership elsewhere, it's worth checking your member benefits as you may be eligible for a discount. For venue info and the first-time waiver, visit [urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn](https://urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn/). **Stay connected:** We also have a facebook group [https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808](https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808) with a chat function; a great way to connect with members before or after a session!
