Shared Journeys in Caregiving & Loss

Shared Journeys in Caregiving & Loss

Sat, Jun 13, 5:00 PM
From Under the Elm: Central Park Grief, Loss and Caregiver Circle

This specific meeting brings both our caregivers and our bereaved members together into one circle. While the daily realities of caring for a sick loved one and navigating life after a loss look different, the underlying emotional landscapes — the exhaustion, the isolation, and the deep love — are profoundly shared. This is a space to bridge those experiences, allowing us to support one another and find community in the common threads of our journeys. **What to expect:** * A safe space to share your grief without expectations or timelines. We are here to witness and support, not to fix your pain. * There is absolutely no pressure to speak if you just want to sit with us and listen. **What to bring:** * A lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. * Coffee, tea or water for yourself, if you’d like. **Where to meet** We will meet at Liu Xiaobo's Memorial Bench. This is by the tennis courts in the park, close to the 96 street entrance near the BC station — search within Google Maps if you cannot find it. From there, we will choose a quiet space to sit. **Inclement Weather Plan** Because we meet outdoors, we are at the mercy of the weather. I will send out a weather forecast update the night before our meeting so you can plan ahead. A final decision will be sent via the Meetup app 2 hours before our start time. If it rains, we will pivot to Zoom and the link will be posted directly in this event chat. **Important RSVP Note** Spaces are strictly limited to 10 attendees to ensure everyone has an intimate, safe environment. RSVPs will close 2 hours before the event. If your plans change and you can no longer make it, please update your RSVP status as soon as possible so someone else can attend. If all spaces are filled, please message me privately to see if we can fit you in. —————————————————————————————————————————————————— **Important Safety & Scope Notice** This is a peer-led support space designed for sharing personal experiences and mutual community support. While I facilitate these meetings using my professional background and experience in hospice care, please note that I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, or mental health medical provider. Discussions are for emotional support and are not a substitute for professional clinical treatment. If you are currently experiencing a mental health emergency or severe distress, please seek immediate professional assistance: Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (Free, confidential, 24/7) or call 911.

Let's give this another shot! Hope the weather cooperates this time! This is a boat with a bar on the deck. Bring warm clothing as it will get chilly on the deck. If the weather doesn't cooperate or it is too chilly we will move next door to the Expat bar. I will update everyone the day of the event in the comments section. We will meet at 7:30pm there! Everyone is welcome to come even if you are new! Let talks about our past and future hiking adventures! This is a super fun event and a chance to meet others before going on hikes outside the city.
